Ok.. too late.. you got me started..lol
. I remember when they introduced the first self checkouts... used some excuse.. such as a labor shortage..
. they said.. your young children.. don't want these manual jobs.. they should be going to college and university...... spending their time educating themselves........ and this is why we will bring in foreign workers... to do these jobs... that you do not want your children doing.......

... and we will make automated line ups.... to help ease.. speed up your shopping experience... because after all time is money...... well you sure don't mind wasting my time... making me wait in a line up... son of a biiit..lol

.. sorry. got off. .point there..lol

..... so corporate.... tried the experiment....... getting rid .. the position the jobs are children no longer need...... more like reducing their overhead.... what's next.. people... it will be easier if you come in at night... and restock the shelves for us... and if some of you can drive a semi truck... and operate a forklift.. hot dog......my.god..... its like Costco.. no bags.. they give you a box... if they have one..lol.. although Costco is pretty efficient... At getting you through the checkout... they two..hand everything.. and have a box boy... beep beep beep beep....lol

in my town, most( if not all) of your volunteer's ( little league coaches, girl scouts leaders, first aid squad, volunteer firemen etc. etc.) worked in town. at the local stores. They supported the local community.

They the big box stores moved in, forcing the small stores out. The big box stores employ kids and semi retired (for the most part) this, to pay little and not offer perks.... keep them as part time status.

The volunteers that we had, were now forced to work outside the town and now did not have the time to volunteer their services. Everyone felt the drain.

They all ( big box stores) rape the community of its core volunteer structure and give back little Or nothing.

But we keep shopping there because we get what we want.. cheap.

So who is to blame

How much more are you willing to pay when shopping in order for those above-mentioned jobs to return?

Walmart in Texas does not allow full time employment
Benefits are zilch
In one days time Walmart can make over 3 billion dollars
They are now opening up. So called. Walmart express stores. In smaller towns that will wipe out the small retail bussiness owners
Most of the time I have spent waiting in line. Was becaue the person in front of me ihas like three carts full of stuff they think they have to buy in trip

Walmart hasn't had a clue what customer service is, since Sam Walton died.

I don't think it's just Walmart....customer service has really deteriorated.....no one seems to care anymore....

I've been in customer service pretty much my whole 'work' life.. and I TOTALLY agree with the above statement!!

however it's not the PEOPLE who don't care.. it's CORPORATE.. and becoming a global downward trend.. sadly..

on the topic of the op.. hey phd waving.. out here in Quebec I typically do NOT shop during any type of store rush hour.. however maybe we do things a lil differently out this way cuz at MOST (when I do go) I have one person in front of me with very little wait time.. no, they're not all open, but the store traffic doesn't require.. happily though.. I can usually find someone to help if I need (unless its the lunch hour) so my suggestion would be.. try shopping OFF hours, like Tuesday or Wednesday mornings.. typically they are the quietest times (as I've noted bigsmile) mind you.. I have on occasion HAD to go during a peak time and even though I had to wait behind 1 or 2 people.. all but say 2 cashes were open.. I had noticed though that the head cashier was tapping her foot and looking at her watch.. presumably because some staffers were either late or NO-shows.. so maybe it depends more on the store MANAGER than it does on the corporation as a whole.. why not talk to YOUR store manager, air your complaint, and find out what's REALLY going on?

... well that would depend on how much I'm saving... by not having them there.. I employ some sub tradesman.... that bill out at $275 an hour.. if he spends 45 minutes in line up... he just lost $207.... roughly.... so I guess .. he just paid $207.. and still doesn't have a bag boy.....lol

So true PHD they are all like that. I have lived in all four corners of the Usa and always only 5 open and 20 closed. I work the midnight shift so when I go there first thing in the mornings no lines. Other wise unless its a emergency I am not going when its busy. It has added years to my life.laugh

We don't have a Walmart here and that's probably because we don't walk around with our gut's hanging over the clothes line having a convo with our knee's nor do we walk around with the cracks of our arses showing LMAOOOOOOOOOO.

Our big chains have self serve so I just flutter through the self serve.

Walmart treats their employees with little to no respect, so I don't shop there.

I'll eat less and pay more to shop somewhere else.

.. its not a Christmas rush.. issue..
.. it's Walmart's lack of providing service... hack all the big box stores..
fall..in the department of providing service... when I was a young boy..
gas stations had gas jockeys..
. oh hang on to your hats. boys and girls... yes a gas jockey.. you would pull up! they would come to your window... how much gas would you like today ma'am or sir... and do you need your oil checked... I noticed your rear tire is a little low... I will add more air for you..... then they would put your gas in your car... check your oil.. add pressure to that low tire..
and even clean your window... in the time it took to put the gas in your car...... and with a smile on their face....
...ohh.. and if that is hard for you to believe....
.. when we went to the grocery store as a young boy... they had a person standing at the end of the checkout... each checkout...... We called them a bag boy.. okay person..lol... they would bag your groceries as they came . from the cashier... and not only that... but can you believe!!.. they would even take them to your car for you.... I know crazy isn't it...lol..
.. Walmart get your act together..
. you should be ashamed a giant corporation like you... what would Sam what would the founding fathers think.... of the way you were treating your customers..... surely you cannot think we are all just cogs in a wheel....

Lol...my daughter and I went to Walmart today...then went to get gas...sat in car flipping a coin to see who had to pump the gas....made almost that same speech to her...sad world we have today...glad I grew up when I did...kinda wonder what the kids today will be saying in 25 years...grumble

.. yes as our lifes have become easier.
.. the struggles have become less..
. and the generational stories... that get passed down.. become watered down.. less of a struggle less hardship...

.ie.. my great grandpa.. if I wanted a house... I had to clear the land.. Mill the lumber... build the house myself..

. my grandpa... you want me to buy new nails...noooo.. go out to the barn.. grab that metal bucket full of rusty old nails... and straighten some of them out..

.. my dad.. I had to ride 3 miles all the way up hill to school... and 3 miles uphill all the way home...lol

.. me... I had to walk 8 blocks all the way uphill to school... and 8 blocks uphill all the way home...

.. my kids.... give me a ride to school..
.Me.. walk it's only three blocks...
Them.. do you know how far!!.. 3 blocks is..
. and can I Drive the car please..
Me.. no you can't drive the car you're only 10..lol
