The time in the past was the 1st of February, as it was a winter festival celebrated from the 11th of November all the way to the 1st Feb. Well it was in Europe anyway. Read up about it?

Never heard about that, but read that indeed in SOME traditions the very last date for cleaning up Christmas stuff is February 2nd. In other traditions the date is Jan 6th (Twelfth Night), the latter is tradition here in the Netherlands. The ritual burning of Christmas trees is always after Twelfth night.

Feb 2nd is Imbolc or L Fhill Brghde, in church language "Candlemas" (bluddy church nicked all our pagan celebrations!)

Haha, I guess you get to watch things when you're up with a new born?

Imbolc (L Fhill Brghde) is typically the pagan celebration I always forget, lol. When I was still very active as a pagan and hedgewitch, I used to celebrate all the sabbats, but always forgot about Imbolc.
Now I do what the Celts did, just Beltain (May 1st) and Samhain (Hallow's eve)

Now I wanna work out how the heck you pronounce L Fhill Brghde. Almost feels like French???

that is a brilliant idea... blondie...
. unfortunately I'm a consumer.
my tree is fake....lol... but it is decorated with ornaments.. that my ex and I purchased every year.. one for every year... and then one for every year the boys had a Christmas..
.... so my tree is full of memories... up to this point they were all good memories... however this year decorating the tree.... was somewhat of a painful reminder.... but I like your idea.... you are truly a tree hugger... and I mean that in a good way..
. although the tree.. you cut down for Christmas... probably doesn't feel the same way...lol
yes i am a tree hugger laughing .. it is actually healthy to full some trees from the forest each year .. It can't possibly sustain every tree planted . They can always be grown in large pots and used each year but that limits the size that can be used as they are too heavy to move without a crane . I guess the first Christmas will always feel sad as far as memories are concerned but I am sure a lot of those memories relate to you and your boys . .. a time will come when the hurt and sadness vanish .. Chin up you :-)

I wait until I see the other people in my town throwing their tree out... then I chuck mine.. and take down the decorations. There is a set day that the town picks up trees.. but I never know what that day is.. so I just follow the lead

op seems i got mine up a little later this yr then right after thanksgiving ... I hate to take them down also I added a new color this yr to my tree and so cool i want to look at it longer ... and i will take down normally on New Years day but will be a few days later ... saw a really cool way to pack your tree if artificial... saran wrap from the top to bottom around and around even with decorations still on ... thought that was really cool ... mine is different hangs from the ceiling so it is a perfect size for a large garbage bag and i just hang in one of my extra closest i pack all holidays stuff in... really seemed to go fast this yr ... sad

in the spirit of Budlight, "love ya man"...

Well, we are a super power...

and i know we have been misbehaving of late, and not treating all others in the world with equal respect of worth and value...

but just as we founded the place many wanted to be like, live like, and have like, so shall we now again set the example as leaders of what is good, and equal happy for all as best, and embrace all in the world as equal in value and worth, with no bias to some as better, and the world will know America did care, even if we did in our own selfish wealth lose our way for a spell.

peace equal brother
