"I've learnt a lot dating. I haven't learnt to protect my heart though.
I'm ashamed of that. I do love a lot. I am stronger definitely but
when someone said they were one thing and turned out to be another i
found i was fooling myself into believing the lie for a good while.
I wanted it to be true.

I'm free now but its left me empty and sad. More fool me i suppose :(

It won't stop me loving though and hopefully in the long run it will
make me stronger and wiser."

Why be ashamed of being vulnerable? If you close off and get defensive you push men away. You can train yourself to detect the guys that are neither serious nor sincere and are never going to commit. Part of how you do that is to ask about their long term relationships. The next is to see if the guy is pushy and impatient. Then if he actually listens and respects what you have to say....Lastly, pay attention to how he talks about other women.

It is very true.
The more intensely you love, the harder the fallout.
But.
It means you did it right.

Overcoming bitterness and fear is only for adults :-)

i don't mean to be a big downer here, but.....when we come out of something and have learned to be more cautious, guarded and or protective of ourselves, that's not the same to me as having been "made stronger"

this saying, on the mary poppins scale of spoons full of sugar, ranks right up there with the best of them, however on the reality calibration scope, it scores very low.

Hello wildflower, that seems to be the ongoing trouble with online chatting and dating. I think its people who try to be a more perfect person in their online lives that ultimately leads to being discovered as a fake personality in the end. There are no winners in a situation like this. You just need to investigate these new dream mates to see if they really are who the portray themselves to be before giving them your heart. In my opinion. friendships are earned through mutual trust and honesty. Better days aheadflowers

Yes thats true and Thank you :)

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?

My stepfather said that as he was licking may azz.

Your right; if it doesn't kill you, it does make you stonger, and his methology worked also; whether I liked it, or not.

Many people cross our path in the string of life! Some cross our paths for various reasons, even for learning lessons we have not yet learned! It doesn't mean they are the one for us, but just a stepping stone to where we will find the one who is truly meant to be part of our lives! Not a virtual life! One based on reality! That's where many delude themselves in thinking that what is virtual is in any way real or of honest substance! Many on here are here to keep a virtual life, but their actual realistic life has nothing to do with their virtual feelings or life! If a virtual relationship has ended without meeting, then the same will happen with any other virtual relationships said person may encounter. Please understand I am referring to people who have not met and those who have little hope of meeting! Personally, if I don't meet them, it was an illusionary relationship, and, therefore, an illusion! True relationships come from actual time spent together! If the couple can't spend time together, not much hope for anything lasting developing, regardless of the emotions expressed of either person. It's all wishful thinking! Unless they are able to meet and show a determined effort to meet despite their circumstances or distance!

Sometimes
I say...sometimes
That which does not kill us,
Simply weakens us, so the next 'thing'
