What do you do about the little insults? You know, the ones that are subtle so you can't call anyone out on it....do you ignore? bite back?

I tend to think I am taking the high road by ignoring, but then, some say that we need to show a backbone?

I am talking about the little jabs...veiled comments about things like age or weight, hair color, moobs, or the beard that Goof is trying to grow...

what say you?flowerforyou

Years ago I would respond very negatively but today I would not even consider it. People like that are only trying to bring you down to their level. For whatever reason they are not happy with themselves so they feel they have to react negatively to others. Best to ignore and move on.

I tend to ignore and move on. The person can't be very mature to be insulting other people.

Historically, I have ignored such comments. The high road is better. However, around friends, sometimes little jabs in fun are ok.

Little comments and jabs are actually about the person that is calling out the insults. They have a problem themselves that they would prefer people didn't notice..so they call attention to others. It is a form of deflection to their own faults/ insecurities etc. I would feel sorry for them.

I tend to agree with all these posts...BUT.....Here, on the boards, when "little" insults are ongoing, veiled, or delivered in "pack" mode, I will stand up to them the second I figure out a clever way to do it without breaking forum rules... .

just a thought...it's not really the 'high road' if you then call attention to it.

I agree. I think it takes more backbone to just ignore what is not important ...I guess where my difficulty is, is in understanding people who do those things.ill

for in all cases, the embracing of any jab, with true heart and soul, embracing all words as true to ridiculously so with true compassion, will automatically reflect the most negative visibility upon the sad depravity of some sad lower insecure intellects, those who feel that to rise them self higher in the eye's of others, lowering others be the good way.

I tend to stand up for those being abused in one form or another. It has cost me so-called friendships, but so be it! Sometimes we stick up for people who do not want us to stand up for them. It happens; there are times when those whom we considered our best friends will turn against us without warning; however, what is good to remember is that we never need to get even or return evil for evil on the boards. We can simply choose to ignore and report bad behavior and show ourselves someone who chooses not to publicly show animosity, or jealousy, or any other type of rude behavior to others. Some will never do this, because they have no type of self control! Realize who these are and do not ascent to that type of behavior , but be discreet, gracious and show yourself a better person, socially, than they are! Don't fall in with the crowd who is constantly lavishing loving words to some but who are jealous or maliciously maligning others. This is just my opinion and my code of ethics!
