I was desperate and afraid
I had ventured beyond reality
and suffered much that I deserved
She came as an angel in my darkest night
and saved me from my plight.
She gave of herself with selflessness
She put her own needs aside.
I did not ask her to rescue me
She just knew I needed to be
She allowed me to soak her with tears of self pity
and gracefully comforted me.
As time goes by she still walks with me
still tending to my selfish needs
I learned so much from her graciousness
that no other had shown me before
She was so much more of a lady
Than any man could hope for.
Alas, she is not to be mine
so great is the measure of time and space
It would be a great man to be worthy of her
a greatness that I now seek
not just to have her but her likeness
In someone that would be right for me.
I degraded her in my lust
She angered but with patience and grace
She did not cause me to suffer as I should have
Even still she walks beside me
carefully watching for me to fail.
Without a word of instruction she
teaches me, just by being who she is.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, she is one of a kind. But she is far away and it would be impossible for her to be mine. lol, I was pretty picky before, I am even more so now knowing her. No one will come close to the woman she is. I am so lucky that she calls me friend and I am hers. I will depend on her knowing her ability to sooth my aching heart. My go to girl I guess. I do not wish for her to weaken to struggles, not likely she will, but I will be there for her if ever she needs me to repay my enormous debt to her. This poem is not worthy of her descriptively, it would take to long to say everything she is.

We sing that song at Celtic games Blondey and Liverpool fans sing it also at theirs. The ground is buzzing when we sing it and a lot of good versions of it are on YouTube!

It was a hell of an experience Blondey. It used to confuse people when i spoke in a Yorkshire accent rather than scouse though haha. Grat fun,and happy memories. But getting back to the topic,i used to see people smile or cry during this song.Originally from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical,'Carousel'.

I know that feeling, as i'm a season ticket holder at Celtic Park and some times when 61000 are singing it at games, it brings a tear to your eye, as it's so powerful I've seen bigger men than me openly crying to it! Top tune!!

I learned something else from that song too Messi.On one occasion a lady stood up at the beginning of the song and walked out while sticking twoo fingers up at Gerry.Turns out she was a Rangers fan haha.Such a pity that some people can let petty things get in the way and blind them to the words of a great song...
