When you get to the point of not being able to take care of them PROPERLY then even one can be too many.

As long as one has the funds to feed them and take them to the vet if needed as well as getting them fixed, then there is no limit... Myself I have one dog now...and that is all I want at one time... When the kids were growing up we have 3 horses, 3 dogs, fish, iguana and what ever else they brought in.. Now I like it more simple with less to take care of...

I have one animal that is mine alone to be responsible for. I frankly can't afford more than that since she has heart disease now and vet bills tend to be a bit expensive... In the last 6 months I have spent right at 4500.00 and that isn't the special diet she is on now.. To me I think it depends on what a person can afford... There is vet bills, food, grooming for some... If you can afford it go for it. And then there is the one thing that is priceless how much time can you give to them. Pets take time... And to me I don't have endless so I am keeping it to one.

First - Dumb* . Second - As long as YOU cab fully support , feed , groom , pay full vet bills when necessary and everything else that's they need completely yourself then it is no one else's business to tell you how many is "too many" .
