I don't mind being single....I enjoy my life in many different ways with no restrictions. It is how we make our time worthwhile, it does not necessarily have to be with a boyfriend, we could share our time with friends, family, and the people around us with whom we can create wonderful moments.

But of course it's still a different phase in our lives when we experience the beauty of being married to our life partner. And I am sure the married people can definitely list down all the good things of a married lifehappy waving flowerforyou

if i was a man you wouldn't be single at this time dolphin ... well that is if you pick me kababayan lol but i agree one should never settle. i hope youll soon find that one true love or that he will hurry up and soon find you before others do flowerforyou

Lol, Sceptical I would say the same thing to youhappy laugh You are beautiful with a heart and not just brain, I won't have second thoughts in considering you to be my GF if I were a man:) oops lesbian/gay talklaugh laugh laugh

We shouldn't hurry love to come to us, let nature takes its course. There's always a time for everything and that love will come at the right time with the right person.

We are lucky we are still single as we don't have the problems of what the married couples are facing everydayhappy drinker but then we should see the brighter side also of having someone by your side everyday....someone to hold, to love and cherish...someone to lean on when you feel weak...a shoulder to cry on when your heart is heavy... Someone to share your bad and good moments , making you feel good all the time saying i love you and don't worry hon I will always be by your side:tongue: tongue2 happy  drinker flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

Applause.

This kind of "aint it cool being single" thread pops up every now and again, like a slow pulse. It's okay for the way someone who needs it, can get a small encouragement to appreciate some aspects of being mateless.

All in all, I have myself always been more of a "appreciate what you can about where you are" kind of person, so I WILL look for what positives I can find in each situation. But I can also still see the positives of the things I don't have or can't have right now, or any more (as the case may be).

My particular marriage turned out to have been a mistake, overall, but I found some good things in it between the not-so-good. And the personal learnings were helpful in their way. Now being alone, has it's pluses as well, and it's minuses too.

But while I do try to stay as upbeat as I can manage, I think it's a mistake to get into too much of a self-encouragement whirlpool. It's really easy to start out looking for positives about how glad you are to have left that jerk or jerkette, and then get so drunk on that, that you get into a mutual "lets all fling our feces at these straw men" festival, and that can be toxic.

So yeah, I'm always glad I don't have to worry about valentines day any more, but I'd still kind of like to find someone anyway. I'll negotiate some kind of truce about the big V day. Maybe I should put that in my profile.

let's see...been four years single now
after being married for twenty
so there's a few things I like

I like that I now only have to take two people's likes and dislikes
into account when I go grocery shopping ( son and I)
I like..deciding when to clean my house on my terms and on my schedule
and not because I have to live up to someone else's expectations.
I like being able to divide up how I spend my time without having to explain myself or ask for permission.." honey can I go get my hair done?"
I like waking up in the morning and going out to make my coffee
and waking my son up for school knowing that my mood is not going to be influenced by anyone else
I like being able to voice my opinion without someone over-riding it, interupting or dismissing what I have to say

Its all a matter of perspective.

You can be single and never had an intimate relationship.
You can be single and never been married
You can be single after a relationship
You can be single after being married.

You can be single with children
You can be single with a large friend support network
You can be single after the death of a spouse
You can be single alone.

I experienced the empty nest syndrome. I went from a houseful of people to just myself in a very short time.
The six years I have been alone and single has its merits and its set backs.
All in all I am content being single and I accept being alone.

The fact that I am actively searching for someone special is proof positive that I am not happy being single, thus, looking to not be.

Living alone and being single has one very important factor that is gained with age and wisdom.
It allows you to really understand yourself and your motivations.
If you choose to look.

Being happy is an expression of the emotion of joy. The positive baseline for life is contentment. From contentment we experience a range of emotions that get expressed in different ways.

Am I happy I am single...NO
Am I content being single...YES

Yeah; I like being single. Having a boyfriend ties me down to much. I like come and go as I please. I have lots going on in my life and to be honest; I have no time for a relationship.

I have been married before and I am happy to be single. Well, let's just say, unmarried.
I enjoy my time by myself so I can do the things I like to do without someone complaining about that I'm not spending enough time with them.
However, being single does have its downside. No one to go places with, no one to share things with. Things like that.
I prefer sleeping alone and never was one to spoon. I live in Florida and even though my house is cool, I get hot at night when I'm trying to sleep. I don't mind cuddling for a while but when it's time to sleep I want the bed to myself.
At this age I am pretty much 'set' in my ways and it's difficult to find anyone to date. I don't tolerate much and am not very patient. Guess I'm better off alone. :(

Not to worry. I don't think any of the scammers on this site are interested in getting married to anyone here. All of the messages I get on here are from scammers and/or catfish. Today alone I received over ten and every one of them were scammers.

I like what you said: "knowing that my mood is not going to be influenced by anyone else". This is one reason I like living alone. When I wake up in the morning I can feel good knowing that I don't have to put up with anyone's bad mood. Just my own.
