what kills me is they think that banning guns is the solution.
when will they wake up to the fact that criminals and the mentally unstable dont care about laws.

Why dont leftist care about our kids in school, dont their lives matter?

What is most disturbing to me is how commonplace this now is. Like "Oh, Texas got it today".. you now expect it on the news. You may be shocked by the actual damage done...by the amount killed and wounded but not the act itself as it has happened way too often to shock anyone

I don't know what the defense is, I don't know how you stop someone from stealing his fathers ( or anyone's) guns, like it appear this nut did. and doing something horrific as this.

Why schools?.. what is it to the psychopaths .. the sick... that make schools the choice for this carnage. The defenselessness of the students?.. And the defense to that is.. what?.. armed guards in every single school?.. every day.. and at every single after school function where kids are present? then what, Armed guards at every little league baseball game, every soccer game, every Pop Warner kids football league games, ect, ect... really?

What a friggin sick world we live in.

Social media plays a big part for youngsters imo,
They can feel very ostracised, plus hate amongst them travels in minutes.
,not sure why they take revenge to such an extreme though.

I know greeneyes, its sickening, and that is the question ,what do we do?

You cant ban guns because criminals and the mentally unstable dont care, you cant put armed guards at all schools , playgrounds , Pop warner football games I mean what is next, armed guards at Wiggles concerts?

bingo ,and every disturbed kid sees all the attention these losers killers get and wants to do the same.

they should make an example of these killer kids in private, but in public never mention their names.

Just say loser kid shot up school, loser kid caught and will get his azz beaten and that is the end of it, no social media, no msm, nothing.

I think it is a combination of things to include the drug companies and health care. I had to take a adult family member to a mental health provider awhile ago, We walked in and 1/2 the people in the waiting room were teenagers?. some barely in their teens. What do the docs do... fill them with meds.. that's what they do. Seems like ever other T.V commercial is to push another drug. Mostly anti depression drugs. These kids ( and adults) take these meds and when they go off them... watch out. I have been on the receiving side of someone who went off their " meds" and it is not pretty.

Social media.. for sure plays a role as well.

Kids are not having the same social supports of family and community they once had, it is every man for themselves and media inundates them with the lowest standards but society pressures them with high expectations, they are no longer receiving the examples and support to develop their emotional and coping skills and they are also inundated with an abundance of messages about the value of technology and very little corresponding message about the value of life.

Its not a one tiered problem, we need better safeguards for gun sales and ownership and we need better cultural values concerning how communities support and care for the kids, and how kids learn to overcome and face adversity in emotionally healthy ways.

First, I have to say that anything like this is terrible news. I feel for those suffering thru it personally.

Next, I have to say...
Cue the standard reaction of the public.
Its the same thing again and again and nobody is making any headway at preventing it no matter how much discussion it gets.

Complaining about guns isn't working.
Complaining about bully mentalities isn't working.
None of the outrage is working.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.
Its gunna happen again and again and again until someone somewhere comes up with a solution that everyone agrees with.
But...that takes dedication and focus and perseverance.

Most people will spout off about shoulda, coulda, woulda but all the hoopla will die down, just like it always does.
Then there will be another incident that will get everyone all worked up again and the whole process will repeat.

The problem IS NOT going to go away on its own.

Sad the Dad owned the guns Legally. The son got them and did the shooting.

I think the main problem is that no one knows the core reason for this to be happening. And you are correct, Tom it is not going to stop it will adapt and manifest in other areas should the school security actually be solved, which it can't. logistically it can't be done consistently and on the level to guarantee safety to all school kids.

But certainly social media plays a huge role. The internet came upon everyone and morphed into a great source of information and a excellent way of communication, but with that came the downsides.. and there are many. Kids are glued... addicted to social media and the web. and with that come intimidation, bullying and a endless wealth of information that maybe they would be better served not knowing at their ages. People become inverted and on the web face it, you can be anyone you want.. no need to actually interact or talk anymore.

you want to make bomb?.. find out how on the internet, kill people in mass?.. or learn how to kill yourself?.. right there on the internet.. buy weapons?.. yep. the internet. bully someone? social media has a ample supply of kids.

That is scary ground for a lot of kids. knowledge is not always a good thing

So where do you start?. Technology?, medicine?, social pressures? parenting?, gun control? what actually is the root problem and the off shoots from there? 10 people will give you 10 different answers

I don't think we actually have a clear understanding of that, actually I know we don't. and until we do, we could never solve this problem.

and if the dad was irresponsible and did not have locked up properly he should be charged with negligence , its his responsibility as a law abiding gun owner.

If his son has a history of mental instability well then the father has a lot to answer for.

but until all the facts comes in , right now we are just speculating.

Great points.
I don't have the answer, all I know is what we are doing isn't working.
Dad always told me if you can complain about something you can also offer a solution.
I've offered mine on many occasions.
What is really sad is that no matter the solutions that have been offered in the last 50 years, nothing is actually effective.

There are some really smart people out there, much smarter than I.
Something, somewhere has to give.
Its just hard for me to believe there is no solution to this ongoing problem we face on a reoccurring basis?

We are being reactive instead of proactive.

we usually are. But not in this case.

Muslims killing westerners? Narrative: Because muslims want to kill us, so simply stop muslims from entering the country.

illegal immigrants killing citizens? Narrative: Because illegal immigrants are criminals, so simply deport everyone and build a bigger wall.

suburbanite kids killing other suburbanite kids? Narrative: Well, its complex and there are so many parts to it, so lets pray for them and not be too hasty to place blame anywhere or on anyone.
