Have to agree and disagree on the football. Sure its dangerous, but actually much less than in years past.

I remembered when I played, we had the decent helmets and pads, but nothing like they have today. Look at the damn quarterbacks! They have like freakin Kevlar and such on thier ribs, etc. They have done a LOT of extra "padding" to make it a much safer game than it use to be.

Think of all those guys that use to play in leather helmets with no face guards! Now those were some rugged dudes!

Hockey is a very violent sports, even with the pads and such. Rugby is always fun too..real football without pads!

And the real "cage fighting"..bare knuckles and no holds barred type (even headbutts are legal), thats probably the most dangerous I could think as a "sport". Because when trained in "lethal" martial arts, you can kill with one strike. So would have to disipline yourself to only try to knock your opponent unconcious without actually killing them. Would be a tough challenge.

I would say for a team sport- football. Any time a 300+ lb man hits a 200 lb man with everything he's got, there's going to be damage eventually. For an individual sport- either skydiving or mountain climbing, esp the type where you scale a mountian using just your hands.. I had my main chute fail once in the army, I said my prayers quickly, and pulled my reserve, and thankfully it opened. It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden STOP.

I know it's not a sport, but considering the sheer number of serious neck injuries alone, I'd probably say pro wrestling.
