You're walking one night and you came across a park bench with a briefcase on it. Inside there are stacks of $100 bills. No one is in sight and it's 3 in the morning. Do you:

A Walk away leaving it

B Take it

C Call the police

Take the money and run.
finders keepers.
unless theres something inside that says where it goes, then i'd return it, for a finders fee of course.

Take all the stacks i can and try to leave the suitcase as empty as possible and go to a friends house then "use the bathroom" and inspect the money.. in case if it was cops trying to set you up and had a tracking device and if it was a drug transaction to piss off the people who get there and see an empty suitcase >.>

i'd probably take it...and then report it to the police.

i'm not going to just stand there guarding that kind of money.

i would make every effort to find the rightful owner.

If I only had one option it would be to walk away. Its the middle of the night and theres a huge amount of cash laying around a park. Thats not really a place you would want to be.

I'd take it to the casino and put it all on red . . . or is it black? One of the those two.

They have a rule here that if noone claims the money within a certain period of time the finder can have it, paying all the taxes on it of course. I would take it to the local police department and fill out all the paperwork on it.

This is one of those situations where you never really know what you are going to do until you are in the situation. Chances are the "rightful owner" is not going to be some average guy who just happened to leave a briefcase full of money lying around. So you know something sinister is in the air. This makes the moral dilemma more of a safety concern, and most people, out of fear, not a sense of justice, would either run out of fear, call the police out of fear, or take the money and constantly be watching over their back. In either case, fear is an issue.

More of a moral situation is presented when it's say, $5000, that was in a purse that maybe an elderly lady left behind on a vacation. Would you take that money? Most people are going to say of course not, they'd turn it in. The first response is one that is based on what other people will think of you, not what you would really do.

Once, I dropped $100 in a restaurant, it fell from my pocket. It was a nice restaurant, and whoever walked by clearly saw it and saw me sitting there with my friend. Everyone in the restaurant seemed like nice businesspeople -- it was during noon lunch hour. And, I was clearly the owner as it was obviously sitting under my chair. Now, that's just a $100 and someone took it without a second thought.

When we are talking about far more cash, I believe most people will take the money. We will say otherwise, but we would take the money.

Would I take the money? I do not know. I have never been placed in the situation, but I am not sure what I would do. It is something I would probably deliberate and get shot while so deliberating...
