Which bridge to CROSS, and which bridge to BURN.




Had any "AH HA!" moments in your life lately. This past couple days I've had TWO.

An ex that shoulda stayed XX'd out of my life before. And a newbie that wasn't being truthful.

Both bridges in this case were undeniably 'BURN' material.

But I've had others that weren't. Bridges I knew I really DID want to cross ..


Care to share your relationship 'encouters' of stay/go...

Well....not so much burned the bridge as much as took a good sledgehammer to it. I'm talking about when I came to this site from the "other one". With the direction that site had been going, many people either left on their own or were kicked off due to....(well, I won't get into that). Here's the funny part: There are still a ton of people who are still there that refuse to leave because "that's where all their friends are", and believe it or not, they're scared to join another/different site for fear of them being found out by the admin that they're there! I'll be damned if I'm gonna live in fear of a website admin on a power trip.

As a result, you now have my shining presence on here!

I still have an active account there, but I never darken the doorstep of that place anymore.

Ya Keith, and THAT bridge was a big one .. lots of connections that were severed.

And that's it .. may not be a personal relationship but a corporate one, an online one ..

all kinds of possibilities here.

Glad I burnt the bridge with the first one I dated after I moved out of the house.
She continues to spiral downward.

We've been on the phone about my bridges a couple times in the last few days ..

Ya know, I learned yesterday which ones to cross and which ones to burn.. I wont go into detail and name names.. but I can say that Ive learned the hard to be very very careful of who you trust ..I put aside some anger and resentment this weekend and burned THAT bridge.

As far as burning bridges I was told long time ago never burn bridges instead I padlock the gate as far as another relationship with that person.

One must learn to deal with what ever happened and move on you forgive but you don't forget.

Once the gate is padlocked you have dealt with the issues and learned to moved on. For one never knows within time you may have to cross that bridge again not saying to be with that person again but somewhere down the line you could end up dealing with that person again maybe in business or just life. At least then your feelings have been dealt with and you have moved on.

how to sum this up without writing a novel to give the back story... well March was a big month for me regarding choices - it was when the third strike for my ex occurred and I realized that just because he said he was "trying" that him sitting there and not talking to me for months was not really any effort on his part

I put up with years of being taken for granted or just treated completely like garbage and thinking I did not deserve any better... and after he ended things with me for the third time in 3 months I realized that I needed to stop this pattern or I was never going to like myself

so now I am still working on liking myself and knowing that I deserve much better than I was letting myself believe previously… I am doing much better regarding my views of myself than I was six months ago and I have come a long way with regards to my views on relationships and what I want and deserve from one

I am glad your burning them judy...they need to be...and then it all need to be let go and move on.


About the other site....grr I warned and warned...people didn't listen oh well what are you going to do...I was put through a horrible nightmare....lessons learned and moved on. Came to mingle long ago and found some amazing friends. I am sorry for all the crap you had to endure Keith.

I have burned bridges in the past, I'm a little quicker to burn them then most people mainly because it takes a lot for me to get attached and given that I'm quick to burn what doesn't work out...currently I'm crossing a bridge, and hopefully it works out as I am hoping it will!

I have never felt the need to burn a bridge.
Have made some people realize that they could cross the bridge to find an iceberg on the other side. I hate to waste good bridges, so this side is just dang cold.

Sometimes you born a bridge because you know YOU can never cross it again. Other times, you get crossed too many times and need to make sure that doesn't happen again.
