Be careful what you wish for... my boss says she got sick of just self-identifying as "White", and started chedking "Other", writing in "European-American"

Seems jury selection thought she was an under-represented minority, and she started getting selected MORE for jury duty.

I want reparations because I am left-handed. Everything in this country is designed for rightys, Had to have my golf clubs special ordered. Can never find a good selection of golf gloves either.

when did he say jobs would never come back? Must have been before 2010, when they started coming back and setting a record for most months of job creation in recorded history ...

that chart isn't truthful, he had unemployment rates in the 20 for a time..

as truthful as Trumps, which use the same source and the same standard.

and trends dont lie, things go up or down, as long as the standards used are the same ....

the downward trend in unemployment began under Obama, as did the increase in job creation ...

you'll never sell me that, no matter what charts, pie graphs, or whatever else you use as a visual...I've know so many people out of work here in Houston back then, a city with one of the strongest economys in the world...those charts are made with info from the government, which never lies, huh... And btw, they're all working now, with good paying jobs...

In other words "Don't confuse me with facts and proof, I KNOW my opinion"

Obama is now taking credit for jobs he said would never come back. Trump is showing him how it done. MAGA
well, look at his followers...just ones in mingle are enough to know it doesn't matter what he says, as long as he says it... They can't see his lies, so everything is the gospel from their Messiah..

Moe: I asked you before, but you still have not named them. What are these lies you refer to Obama saying? I gave you one free: "you can keep your own doctor" What are the rest of his Top 10?

You can't name the lies you say he told, so they must not exist.

Oh, and as a postscript to my last posting:

If the last months of Obama's presidency showed that we were heading for recession, the resulting recession, even though it happened during Trump's presidency, could not be blamed on Trump. It is the way it goes.

For example, some Dems say that there were TWO Bush recessions, one the beginning of his term, one near the end. That is not a valid statement. The market was cooling after the dot-com bubble burst, and a lot of money was taken off the table, by many means. Mostly it was people who didn't understand the market, and who should not have been in the market, buying stocks they disn't research because of "Fear of missing out" Clinton's previous Laziez faire (somebody correct my spelling) approach to the market during the bulk of his term was not a correct approach at the end. Lots of things like e-trading were also new, so it was a bit of uncharted water.

In any case, W inherited a tough economy which was not his doing. The "second" recession of his 8 years was all his, however.

I don't know where that BLM crap came from. I did not text anything about BLM . Some how the quote area bleed into that quote . ??? Sorry about that! But if you want proff of trumps success just look at the Econ. Numbers. Surly you can't argue w/ that.

Thanks for the clarification on BLM. No problems!

And the economy is doing good, but Trump can't take credit for it, he is riding off of the success that the previous administration had in pulling us out of the Bush Recession. If it had been 8 years of McCain Palin that faced down the same mess and fixed it, I would be giving THEM the credit. Trump has done nothing to spur the economy, you just have to look at the charts and see the straight line growth. There WAS a big bump in November 2016 that he can possibly take credit for (however, it happens every time the House, Senate and Exec Office are the same R or D), but those gains were again lost in Q1 2017, and the economy fell right back into the same line of growth they had been seeing in the last years of Obama.

Like I say, no matter which team won in 2008, they had a tough job ahead of them. Obama had to take some tough actions: when he took action and stopped the automatic re-upping of unemployment benefits, it started whittling down the unemployment numbers. One can argue that it was a "false improvement" because it just meant the long term unemployed were no longer being counted, so the number improved by attrition, but it broke a lot of folks off the dole too.

I get it, conservatives hate Obama, but only someone who doesn't understand economics can say that Obama and his team didn't take on a tough task with the economy and get it tuned up again. And Trump is just riding those results by taking no action.... As ANY succeeding president would have.

Hey, everything here is good news and positive introspection. Great to see that the economy continues to improve.

I also hope that these are good, well-paying jobs. We need taxpayers if we are ever going to solve this debt crisis.

President Trump isn't going anywhere, no matter what paranoid , mindless dolts throw at him. He has done so much good for this country that the law abiding and America loving people will NOT let soulless democrats fulfill unpatriotic agenda by spreading filth and lies to remove a successful president just because he makes the last president look like a joke( albeit a bad one). With Obama on the stump bosting of himself on the Trump economy , he's sure to get the republicans to the poll for a victory in November.

Again with the name calling? And stating he has done "so much good for this country" is a hollow opinion. Prove what he has done.

Then you try to change the subject with BLM? WHERE did THAT come into the conversation about the 25th Amendment? HOW is that even close to being relevant? My god, you are arguing like the president now, rambling and grasping for anything.

Oh, and I will tell you AGAIN, you assume I am a Democrat. You are WRONG.

I will agree with you that "President Trump isn't going anywhere", because he just goes around in circles, blaming Obama, blaming this, blaming that, while nothing is getting done. N Korea denuked yet? Nope. Mexico paid for that wall? Nope. All of Obama's unconstitutional EOs rolled back? Well, yes, because it comes to pass, there weren't any. The list goes on, he is a fraud, and his followers are too scared to admit as much.

I don't know if Trump will finish out his term. It just seems that there are Republicans now that are examining ways to get him gone... Like I say, I heard it on Fox News, so it MUST be true.

I'm quite familiar with Wikipedia.

You all are drinking too much liberal koolade. The socialists aren't invading the republican party. They know dems will believe anything their party higher ups tell them. Their news feeds keep them up up date on the latest propaganda that they think will overthrow the current potus.

I heard last week, that some firmly believe that only bureaucrats should remain in power. To me, that sounds a lot like a monarchy. Our ancestors left Europe because they hated the king's rule. We fought a war because we wanted to be independent. Are we gearing up for another one? I think it's already started.

Oh, this is GOOD. Socialists INVADING the Republicans? Are you serious? It looks like the Republicans themselves are trying to figure out how they can move on from Trump. Trump might be making them nervous with all the pissing off of the allies, etc. I am not sure, but the party might be breaking ranks with the president.

"I heard last week, that some firmly believe..." Cite your sources, or admit that that sounds like BS. I mean, I heard a bunch of stuff last night from a drunk in a bar, but I am not leading with that here.

"We fought a war because we wanted to be independent. Are we gearing up for another one? I think it's already started." That's exactly what I am saying, I think the Republicans are realizing that the demagogue at 1600 might not be in their best interest to keep around, and that they are planning to put another Republican in the chair. Like I say, I saw it on FoxNews, the Republican mouthpiece. If I saw it anywhere else, I could discount it as you all would, but it is coming from the oracle...

Your guy Obama just about desimated the middle class during his eight years, now it's coming back for " most people" you should be happy for others. Lol

This.

As stated, EITHER winner of the 2008 Presidential election would inherit a load of Chicken crap that needed to be made into chicken salad. That was the remnants of the Bush Recession, and the corporate bail outs which were given out.

EITHER president in 2008 would have had a tough road, and had to make tough decisions. To believe that recovery would have been less painful under a Republican is rather short-sighted.

Now, to take over an economy which is tuned-up again, as Trump did in 2016, and proclaim it is a Festivus Miracle, well, that is just bunk.

However, to put in a "tax cut" that benefits one class over the other, well, if one reads US history, there are many instances which show that such actions don't work.

To believe that this "tax cut" benefited working Americans is simply being foolish and uninformed. This was a gift for the rich.

A "middle class tax cut" is like a mermaid: people swear they exist, and the drawings of them make them look beautiful, but no one has ever seen one for real. And I don't care if it is a Dem or a Rep promising it, it does NOT exist.

And if they are saying, "but look, wages went up X, or unemployment is X", it is just apples and oranges, and they are snowing you.

petenh's photo
Sat 09/08/18 06:47 AM

I know MY taxes went up under the "Trump Tax Cut". I will be paying close to $6000 more

But then again, I am middle class, the vanishing fulcrum the rich and politicians always balance the tax burden on
wages increased 2.9% since this time last year. Any other good news you want to dump on . Must be awful to be as negative as you and a few others on this site are. Don't worry , be happy.

What does one have to do with the other? I stated I was being shafted $6K more under this plan. It doesn't do me any good that somebody else got a raise, I am still on the hook for another 6K.

Jeesh, get a clue
Lol! I don't care about your problems. I'm speaking of wages for American workers. Your guy Obama just about desimated the middle class during his eight years, now it's coming back for " most people" you should be happy for others. Lol

Again, bring up Obama when you are losing a discussion? The OP was about how the Trump tax cut effected people, I stated that my "tax cut" was an increase.

Then you bring up stats about how wages have increased. What does one have to do with the other? I stated "MY taxes went up instead of being cut"

But since you bring up Obama, look at the indicators when HE took over (after the Bush recession), and look at those same indicators when Trump took over. I will give you a hint: Obama inherited a stalled economy (as McCain-Palin would have as well), where Trump took over an economy which was recovered. BIG difference.

ALL our pocketbooks hurt under Obama, they would have hurt just as much if McCain had won. This is not a Democrat-Republican argument, either side in 2008 would have had the same challenges in recovering from the Bush recession.

But for your boy to simply say "I fixed the economy" is as silly as if he said, "I made the sun rise!" Can't you see that?

But back to the tax "cut". If it cost middle-class workers more, and the middle class are the majority of the folks footing the bill, is it a tax cut, or an increase?

And your line "I don't care about your problems. I'm speaking of wages for American workers." is contradictory. I AM an American worker, in one of those blue states that funds the red states where the majority of welfare spending happens:

https://www.apnews.com/2f83c72de1bd440d92cdbc0d3b6bc08c

If my (as an American worker) wages go up, but my taxes go up MORE, did I get a pay increase, a tax cut, or just plain shafted?

Did YOU get a tax cut? Have you even looked yet?

The 20 amendment is the one dealing w/ temporary pres. power. Ratified in 1933, get your facts straight . Than you'll have the right to correct someone.

Looks like I have the right to correct YOU, too. The 20th deals with circumstances around the DEATH of a president.

The 25th is, as I stated correctly, pertains to when the transfer of powers when the President is incapacitated (ie surgery), or when deemed by a body of congress as unable to do the job.

Thanks for playing.
incapable that means any thing that makes him unable to do his job. It takes 2/3 of both houses of congress to remove the president. The majority of his cabinet including the VP can only start the process . They Do Not have the power to remove him. Just as I stated correctly.

You are arguing apples and oranges, and then when you are corrected, you result to name calling.

And you ***-u-me I am a Democrat? Wrong again! Thanks for playing!

Or you need a majority of the President's cabinet including the Vice-President.

The leaks I am guessing were either Pence or Sessions. If they are Pence it could really mean trouble for President Trump. If they did try to remove him it would cause a major constitutional crisis trying to remove a rightfully elected President, it wouldn't fly with the voters and would backfire on the Democrats.

That is what makes current wrinkles interesting. If, as you say, Pence or Sessions are the authors, it might be the Republicans themselves who are trying to arrange a softer way of doing the necessary, instead of the impeachment route.

In a different thread, I posted a link to this video on FoxNews

https://www.yahoo.com/news/fox-news-analyst-goes-off-075409063.html

We know that Fox is the Republican mouthpiece, and the video might be a way to broach changing president without Trump's supporters rioting in the street.

Republicans in Congress can certainly get the votes needed from across the aisle, if they want to change him out, and they put a long-serving one-of-their-own in place.

Sure, Dems want Trump out, but I think the WHOLE Congress is worried what the petulant Trump will do on a world stage during impeachment trials, when his massive ego can't take being told that he is "ineffective" being president. Start a war? Tell his devoteds to riot? Suggest that the media should be killed?

Face it, that piece never would have made it onto FoxNews if the Republican machine didn't approve it. It's a first act of a bigger play.

This might be "House of Cards" in real life: Pence as the "Frank Underwood" role, trying to knock out President Garrett Walker so he can take over the presidency and start toward his own incumbency. Republican strategists might be looking at this as the best way they can retain the WH in 2020, giving Pence a chance to build a record.

Basha, thanks for the Wiki URL.
If the VP and majority of cabinet send a written statement the pres. Is incapable of performing his duties to congress than the vp assumes the office if pres. Until the pres. Presents his statement that he can perform his duties, than he resumes the office. Than the vp has 4 days to repeat the procedure . There after congress will vote . They need 2/3 to make it stand

"such other body as Congress may by law provide" This portion of the amendment has never been used in its 51 years. If the "body" named by Congress can demonstrate that the President is irrational, the President can be removed.

What you are detailing is the "temporary transfer of powers" that has been used numerous times in the 51 years, such as when a president goes under anesthesia. I believe since Sept 11, the "Cabinet member in the undisclosed location" during the State of the Union is done in accordance to both Article II and the 25 Amendment

Hey, they are even reporting on FoxNews that Trump doesn't have the "temperament" to perform the job, and if it is coming from the Republican mouthpiece Fox News (video on another thread), that sounds like the Republicans might be lining up to call in the relief pitcher. Some Reps might see this as a less disruptive move than going through impeachment

So presenting FACTS is now "conservative bashing"? And showing the inherent bias of a cited piece is "bashing"?
no, it's called bashing when you can't read what the topic is about....hint - it's not about Trump....in any way

And if you will look REAL CLOSELY, I didn't mention Trump in my original reply, just stated that you are attempting in the OP to bash Obama with something that is normal for ALL ex-presidents to do.

See how YOUR biased media source is leading you around?

yea, because I started the topic...I didn't jump into your anti Trump thread and bash Obama, did I?

Oh, I didn't see in the rules of the forum that state you have private thread privileges.

You are welcome into any thread I start.... because you join anyway and spout your hate about a guy who is gone from office for almost 2 years now anyway.

I actually LIKE seeing your contributions. I really wish you would prepare your arguments based more on truth than knee-jerk party line, but then, people in Hell want ice water too, we all get what we get.

I am sorry that I ruined your Obama bash with facts.
you have no facts ... You're just trying to push people's buttons, nothing else...read the rules, anyone can post in any topic...but it has to be on topic, and not trying to bait others...

I stated a simple fact that it is NORMAL for ALL ex-presidents to earn money on the speaking circuit. This deflated your Obama bash to just another news flash similar to "the sun came up this morning", and you got butthurt.

Oh, and I KNOW anyone can post in any thread... but truly, I do enjoy when you reply to things. Please do not stop posting, I sincerely get a kick out of your logic.
this post wasn't intended to bash Obama, I really want to know the secret of the meetings, because I think he's up to something...but they do turn into Obama bashing, for some reason....my whole point is I didn't start this thread for anyone to whine about Trump, he has nothing to do with this thread...if you start your own post about Trump haters unite, then what would you say if I went in and bashed Obama?

Follow me on this. I know it is tough for you, but:

1) NOBODY bashed Trump on this original response.
2) Obama is not doing anything unique, even though your subject title implies it.
3) If I start a topic, you are encouraged to join it, that is what this forum is about. Like I say, I truly enjoy your "arguments".
4) I would expect you to bring up Obama or Hillary in any thread when you interjected, because you have demonstrated you can't argue on point.

... to become more "Fair and Balanced"

Actually, this might be a sign that the mainstream Republicans realize it is time to move on from Trump.

This URL contains a video from FoxNews explaining that the Trumpster might be a loose cannon on deck, "not having the temperament" to be in the job.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/fox-news-analyst-goes-off-075409063.html

The mainstream Republicans might be scared that Trump will go down like a drowning man, and that "there is no telling what he might do"

I have to agree. If Trump says to his loyal cadre of HitlerYouth to go out and commit violence, we might see something akin to the riots of the 60's

CNN is the modern Onion....only brainwashed liberals believe anything CNN says...

except this piece is not what "CNN said", but what an actual military vet did and his interaction with Colin Kaepernick.

not really, it was more about Trump saying McCain wasn't a hero...

Well, now that you mention it, do you believe Trump was wrong in criticizing John McCain as "not a hero"?

Yes. I feel as a President, it is destructive and irresponsible to speak of a vet that way when speaking of their military service.

I feel, unlike a professional athlete, he LITERALLY has a responsibility to our military men and women.

he has a right to his opinion...Trump and McCain didn't like each other, simple as that...what did McCain do to "become" a hero? He got caught, then did everything they told him to do...not very heroish in my opinion... Did he save a platoon ( or anyone for that matter)? Did he stop a ship from sinking? Has he done anything to be considered a hero?

maybe nothing at all, but if one is taking a 'loyalty to all vets' approach of condemning the kneeling of someone during an anthem, I expect more respect for their service, whether they have been captured or not, ESPECIALLY from someone elected commander in chief.

thanks for your opinion...glad to know you care so much for our vets...oh, wait....you think all the vets are hero's, but the flag is "just a piece of cloth" , and nobody should have pride in their country....

well, half right. I dont think all vets are heroes, and I take no public stance pretending I do. I take no public stance suggesting how others should react to all vets or what customs they should adopt in doing so. I also dont believe K's protest had ANYTHING to do with vets, since it was a vet that suggested he kneel in the first place. ... but thats another issue.

its not the uniform you wear, and get PAID to wear, its what you do without that uniform that warrants a 'hero' label as far as Im concerned.

people in uniforms are still flawed humans, and it is their individual actions that merit the term 'hero', imho, not merely the fact that they do a job they are paid to do.

so Trump isn't allowed his personal opinion? It seems to me if McCain was a hero, there would have been lots of backlash over Trump saying he's not...but all I see is the same liberal trolls jumping up and down every time he speaks...as a matter of fact, I've read more about him being a rat rather than anything heroic...I guess what I'm saying here is that hero or not, there wasn't enough admiration from the public for him to be a true hero..

for clarity, the thread is not about anyone's right to an opinion. that is a given in every conversation about anything.

the thread is also not about whether McCain was a 'hero'. He was a VET.

And if one COMMANDER IN CHIEF of the military, it is rather hypocritical to BLATANTLY and DIRECTLY insult a vet, while proclaiming that someone who works as an ATHLETE should lose their job over an action that you ASSUME disrespects vets.

hypocrisy: the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.
still not hypocritical... Tell me, is the president supposed to lie to everyone? I know your used to it from Obama, but is it ok if the president lies? In your opinion, Trump should have lied about liking McCain, even tho McCain bashed Trump every chance he got...I like honesty, and that honesty showed when he said that about McCain... As far kap goes, just another loser trying to extend his 15 minutes....nothing more

Shoot, Trump lies about everything else, from his inauguration crowd size to "all those executive orders Obama signed that were unconstitutional", he could not have at least paid tribute to a man who has had almost 50 years in public service? McCain did more good work for this country than Trump could even imagine doing. Even though I was not always on his side of the issue, I would take one hard-working McCain over 100 phony Trumps
