I would definitely consider them desirable.

Thank you again to everyone replying and trying to help. I really appreciate it. It'll be a few days before I can get my hands on his computer, but I plan to take it apart and troubleshoot. I'm going to check the power supply first, because the fans aren't powering up at all. After that, I'll look at the fans themselves because of that error message he was getting. Then, it's to the motherboard.

If anyone has any other helpful resources online on troubleshooting procedures/how-to's, they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help. I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the fan or a heat sink. Hopefully, I'll get it figured out.

I'm trying to help Lex fix his computer. It's a Dell Inspiron 6000 that won't turn on. The LEDs used to flash, but now only the power light comes on and shuts off after a second. The fans and drive aren't spinning, so it's not starting up at all. The laptop doesn't have a battery as it never seemed to work properly, so it runs entirely using the power cord. I thought this might have been a power issue, but he mentioned an error message he received a day or so before it died that had a black screen noting that the computer was getting too hot.

So I believe the issue is with the fan or the heatsink (basically not starting up so that it doesn't catch on fire), but I have no clue how to tackle those problems.

If anyone can help with this issue, he'd greatly appreciate it.

To me, atheists aren't like rebellious children at all. I choose to look beyond the Bible or religion and use logic, reason, and a simple moral code to dictate my life. I am not rebelling against any god; I simply do not believe one exists. I do not require the boogie man to convince me to go to sleep, Santa to make sure I behave, a book of stories to tell me what is ethical, or a god to act as a father figure to keep me "in line" for the course of my life.

I played the trumpet for nine years or so, but I haven't picked it up in about four or five. I miss it dearly.

Adaware, Spybot Search & Destroy, Free Registry Fix isn't too bad, Trend Micro offers a free online virus scan that is always updated, be sure to clear private data, keep a decent firewall.... frustrated

Or you could just get a Mac. drinker

Never. My views would differ far too much from theirs for any type of relationship to work. I simply wouldn't be remotely attracted to someone like that.

Questions glaring
Answers hollow
Smug statements on a thread

A sly remark
Ignorance shared
It’s true god is not dead

He lives inside
The thoughtless minds
And those who list as sheep

So confident
So full of “faith”
And logic goes to sleep

They spread their word
And blindly read
Their book of fairy tales

They choose to let
Their lives be slaves
To snakes, giants, and whales

Insulted by
Contrasting thought
Refusal to reason

Freedom, good sense,
Intelligence
Seem the highest treasons

I found this in a forum on another site and thought it was pretty decent. They even have links to tutorials for everything.

I like a nice trip to a decent coffeehouse. Discussing philosophy, books, movies, and anything else with some light jazz in the background....
