so sorry to hear that, windows 8 is a total dud, research proves it.
it's so bad they are basically giving them away. not user friendly at all, too many hoops to jump thru to get any use out of it.
if you have the opportunity to return it, do yourself a favor and take it back, you'll not regret it. other companies realized that are now offering windows 7 once again. look around,,,

simple works, my dearly departed granny taught us
the best way was to tie sewing thread around it's base.
tighten till it starts to hurt then knot it off
and clip the thread ends off. takes a few days, but
