Was this the proper way og going about it? and what would you have done?

When I found out she had lied about where she was from, I would have cut off all contact. I don't deal with liars, ever.

Also, you're not allowed to mention user names on here in regard to conflicts, so you might want to edit that out.

next to their profile pic box, click "report the user".
then click "scammer box" as that is exactly what she is.

I only talk to people I've become familiar with in the forums, so I've never experienced that. It's good you found out who she is now, rather than later.

We do not encounter because we recognize
right out of the gate that something
is amiss.

No reply IS the reply.

You have to toughen up a bit to avoid these types.

I would have told her that due to tax issues, i could not personally collect an inheritance a recently deceased relative had left me. i would follow that up with a request for her banking info to help me and that i would split the money with her.

I actually sympatize with you on your experience with this person in question. But i frown @ ur generalisation of nigerians as scammers. truth be told, there are scammers here but we have them everywhere. Thanks for your story, but also know that scams happen from even the least expected regions or country. proud to be a nigerian

I don't know about the OP's experience, but the male scammer I encountered said he was from Austin and was presently selling his house in Lagos Nigeria. His picture is on lots of dating scam websites, or at least the picture he said was his. Turned out it was the picture of a great looking guy from Italy; however, the actual scammer was a Nigerian from Lagos and still shows up under different names but the same photo. He even looked at my profile again, but when I went to report it, he had already deactivated his account, in record time I might add. laugh

I would have blocked her as soon as she claimed to be from one country but was "working" in another....especially if that "other" country was any where in Africa. You need to set up your email to block her address. She is a scammer. Don;t give out your pers. email on here. Block her.

I observe that a large percentage of those scammed online were either looking for love that is non-existent or quick money out of greed. And i wish to re-affirm that there are sincere nigerians. Have a blessed day.

Sweetestgirl11, scams are not perculiar to africans, its everywere. so its not proper to label africa and africans as bad or scammer cos dats wat i think your statement infers.

I agree with this. I get dozens of friend requests from a variety of different countries from very young men but I just block them as I simply don't have time to waste with them.
