I think the only reason anyone thought they were any good was because it was the first time anyone tried to do a prehistoric novel by doing actual RESEARCH first and making an attempt to get some sort of authenticity to what it might have been like based on the archeological and anthropological evidence.

That was the only reason I read it.

I want my money back for all 4 books, the ending was just that bad.

I have discovered that most apps are not working at all on Firefox. Not just in Facebook. They work fine in Explorer. That is just sad.

I just read "the Younger Gods" by David & Leigh Eddings. Book four in a rather sad series. Maybe they have been writing the same type of story for too long. Because all the characters sounded the same.

But the last book was horrible. They almost never showed the story. Most of it was people in one place describing what the people in another place were doing.

In fact, the same conversations would take place 5 or 6 times with various different participants. It was redundant and tedious and boring.

Then the culmination of the 'action' was broken up into 5 scenes. And told OUT OF ORDER.

1. O come's up with the plan and sets it in motion to destroy the hive and the 'queen' bug.
2. A, in a different location, tells others just what O has done. Only she describes it all before we have seen it as the reader.
3. All the 'caretakers' have been sent away but for a few. The infant bugs are supposed to go to the caretakers. But since the remaining caretakers don't have the right orders they see the infant bugs as food and start eating.
4. The queen bug sees this and starts screaming.
5. O muffles the orders the queen is sending, to care for the infants, and sends most of the 'caretakers' away.

Then, the very ending has the ulitimate god and goddess go back in time to and 'fix' things which totally negates everything that has happened in all four books while still keeping the destruction of the bug people.

All in all, the most pointless book every, making this the most useless series I've ever read. I missed book 4. I didn't realize it was released 2 years ago. I did think it was taking a long time to come out. I'm guessing I missed it because it was so very bad that no one tried to draw any attention to it.

Suddenly, my facebook aps won't work if I'm using firefox. I have to go use explorer now if I want to play any game apps. Making me cranky.

Sometimes, things happen in life. We move on. We make a new life. But lately, people from a time in my life I put behind me keep popping up again. People who represent things I don't want in my life anymore. They are ruining my belly dancing and drumming now. They ignore me. I ignore them. We do that phony polite thing that people do when they don't want to let the past interfere with other peoples enjoyment of the event. But I can't enjoy the events anymore.

I would end up doing what I'm doing now. Watching fascinating programs on Egypt on the Discovery Channel. I'm such a history geek.

I would also be a bit pissed and have a couple glasses of scotch and debate the value of the friendships.

And if I was all dressed up for the girls night out/retail therapy trip, I would probably walk down the street, pick a good restaurant, and have dinner out.

One of the reasons for all this focus on the study of DNA is for this very reason. To find a way to prevent such gene based diseases. To find a way to treat the diseases and hopefully 'fix' these genes in the future.

I know that some places offer such genetic screening for people who are planning on getting married. I've seen a few documentaries on it. The one that stands out most in my memory is the couple that wanted children and the discovery that there was a high probability for a genetic disorder if they had children together. I guess the man wasn't really so in love with his fiance since he broke up with her because having children without the increased risk of this disorder was more important to him than building a life with her.

There is an unpleasant side effect of the anti-smoking laws. Everyone is going outside the bar or the restaurant to smoke. Only the businesses are not providing recepticals for the butts. Nor is the city. The result is that the sidewalks and and the cracks between the cobblestones are getting filled with butts. It looks terrible.

Chess in Concert was fabulous. Just fabulous. I highly recommend it.
