Most women have high tolerance for physical pain, yet not so much for emotional unless they have events that build that wall to protect themselves. I think that more we all have become de-sensitized to emotional forgiveness and we simply shut out the emotional.

Whether or not you want to admit it, we all deal with the emotional in our own terms and adapt to suit our lives.

We had a tornado go through our town this evening and caused some heavy damage, but no casualties. Kind of crazy pulling my car into the garage to hear the warning sirens go off and rushing to the house to get down to the basement.

No damage on the South part of town, but the North end was destroyed. The local car dealership, homes and varied business.

The most amazing thing about all of this was those who came out to help. I am so impressed that our community pulled together and made sure everyone was safe.

There is the greater good in mankind, in spite of economic turndown and pisspoor leadership. Gotta love America when we have to get back to basics!

Wow! With this stimulus plan, I have really been put to task with all of the changes, notifications and all. I have forgotten what 'me time' is and am down right tired of sitting in on legislative sessions already!
Anyone else dealing with the stress of the sudden changes?

Why do they call it fast food when they ask you to "park it" and we will bring it out to you on a basic order?

every vegetarian i know is overweight. they eat an abundance of bread, pasta, cheese, etc. meat contains proteins which are essential to your diet and good health...that's why we have pointed teeth, so we can tear sinewy flesh from the bone bigsmile

Ugh! I avoid the bread and pasta because I get so bloated. I love my veggies and throw anything on a salad. I don't eat starchy food because it boggs me down and increases the cholesterol counts.

I live for my poultry and seafood on a salad any day!

Your diet is not the whole picture. You need to remain active.
I watch my diet as I am tied to a desk during the day, but i get out there and walk a couple of miles each day and do not eat red meat.

My diet consists of veggies and poultry and al of the other goodies, The only thing that I have cut out are the sweets and red meat and I have maintained my welter weight of 84 lbs for over three years.

I think Mom's Day (& Dad's Day, for that matter) is a great holiday. I think our parents should be honored every day... flowerforyou

But I often think of the "children-less Mothers"...the unsung heros who help to raise other people's children...or women who have lost children due to miscarriage. (I lost my son in-utero) brokenheart

I'm not saying that there should be a seperate holiday...but I do think these women should be recognized. Some of my warmest moments have been when an adult child that I helped to raise says "I remember that you were there when my Mom wasn't available"...etc...
I've also experienced the pain when a callous woman would say that I wasn't a "Real Woman" since I had never experienced actual childbirth...or I wouldn't know the pain or joy since I had no (living) children of my own...it happens more often than you think. I only bring this up to remind us all that EVERY woman has a story...please appreciate that fact. flowerforyou

Thank you for your words and bringing this to light.
Yes, there are some of us who have chosen not to have children for one reason or another...but there are those of us who have been there to raise step-children, neices and nephews and are still haning in there as a surrogate parent without recognition.

Shame on the person that told you that you are not a 'real woman' due to the lack of the childbirth experience. Chalk that comment up to total ignorance as she has never experienced any other situation.

..........and no my photo is not here, I was once a regular but now I see why I left noway !!!!

I have to agree with you there.
The picture of an angry looking man is not interesting.
The shirtless picture is not sexy.
The picture of the torsoe with no head is not intriguing.
The picture of a tat is a total turn off and send mixed messages.

Shall me move on to the handle?
If it has any negative connotations...I quickly move on. drinker

 I had a Gardening Gourmet Gift Basket delivered to my Mom today for Mom's Day and she just called me to cuss me out for spending money on her.

I kept it practical with a gardening tote complete with tools, gloves, and a few goodies to enjoy. Dried fruit, dipping sauce and pretzels and hand lotion for a bit of pampering after spending time in the garden....and she cussed me out!

I finally told her to enjoy and zippit.

Does anyone have to go through this rigor with thier Mom? She makes me fel quilty for spoiling her... But she loves it!
