Thanks all. I have only been able to help by helping my ex get her life back in order... The best lawyer in town is the one she works for, and the "good 'ol boys club" in this town is nearly impossible to break... I want to fight, but am powerless... I feel so frustrated!

My ex just told me she is thinking about giving full custody of my stepdaughters to her sister because she can't fight her and fight her cancer at the same time! This is the same sister who has convinced my girls that their mother has lied about having cancer in the first place, lied about having a hysterectomy (I was there for the surgery), lied about needing chemotherapy... The same sister who convinced my girls to lie about things to their counselors and CPS... The same sister who in the past has stayed in a motel for 4 days simply to keer her estranged husband from seeing his children for Father's Day... The same sister who thinks because she works for a lawyer she can get away with violating federal privacy laws concerning medical records... My girls are living a life I wouldn't wish on anyone, yet they don't know it because they have been conditioned (I hesitate to call it brainwashing) to think it is not just normal, but it is good to be that way. My girls are going to live a life of ugliness and I am powerless to do anything about it because I have been forbidden to do anything by my ex, and her sister would sick all the lawyers on me pro bono. You can't fight that. I'll never see my girls again, and if I do they will be mere shadows of the beautiful little girls I remember.....

I think it is both. My entire family has a "deficiency" shall we say in the way they treat other people. If it is purely learned then I should have turned out the same. I somehow turned out to be a decent person despite the environment I was raised in. I care about others greatly, in fact more than myself most of the time. Maybe I overcompensated for the ugliness that I was raised in, but it definitely wasn't learned... Where did that come from??? I like to think it came from God. Where did my family's ugliness come from? Partly hidden mental illness I suspect, but that doesn't explain it all...

What's to be afraid of? Let the world know you love your woman. They can be as jealous as they want.

I lived with a Swedish shot putter for a while. He was a really nice guy, but being a “jock” he had a bit of an ego to feed. One of his favorite things to say in Swedish was (spelling???) “Ushecta mina stura oxlar” which translates to “Pardon my broad shoulders” . He had also taught us a few bad words in Swedish. One day we were having a small gathering in our dorm room with some friends from the track team, and his friend’s roommate wanted to say something witty in Swedish, but didn’t know what to say. The jocks were talking about how far they could jump and how big their muscles were, so he figured since he wasn’t an athlete he would talk about how big his feet were. In his best Swedish accent he boldy stated “Ushecta mina stura fitta”. Everyone in the room started laughing hysterically, and he wanted to know what was so frikkin funny, he was just trying to say how big his feet were. My roommate then explained to him he had said “Pardon my broad p@$$y”.
