Why should we just "pull out of Iraq" ?

We made long term deals with Saudi Arabia to protect SA from Iraq, and
got their regional "OK" to invade. Lets not forget that iraq fired 39
missiles into Saudi.

We made long term deals with Israel to protect it from Iraq. Lets not
forget a handful of missiles were fired into Israel too.

We also made long term deals with the Gulf states to protect them from
Iran, Syria, and Iraq. Places like Bahrain, UAE, and of course Kuwait.

Three thousand soldiers is terrible. I dont minimize that, but how many
soldiers per day died in WW2? Vietnam? Korea? In the long term, how many
civillians are living happier lives in Japan? Germany? South Korea? and
so on. Put it this way, in the 8 years of this mess, and i completely
agree is a stinkin-Mess, 3000 troops have been killed. Thats not much
more than troops that die in training over 8 years.

What have we gained? Nothing. But, we have kept to our committments, and
the civillians of the region are no longer worried about Iraqi Scuds
raining down on them. Think about it.

Now of course, the real problem is the Iraqi civillians. They're
slaughtering each other, to the tune of 10s of thousands per year.
Sunni/Shia/Kurds - in brutal, evil, horrific slaughter. The day Saddam
died this would have happened ANYWAY. Notice, the Iraqi's arent being
killed by US troops, and US troops really arent being killed (in serious
"war" levels) by Iraqis. This is civillian vs civillian, and if we were
not present, the scale would be even greater.

Sure, our folly gave the impetus to this disaster, but, that disaster
was brewing for decades.

What do we do? I dont know, but, pulling out and letting the
slaughter-fest reach even greater levels is irresponsible, and, the only
ppl who would suffer would be the civillians.

Good post Mike. We all need to really educate ourselves on the
situation. Pull out now, the whole world will really lose later.

Good post Mike, Like you many people know the situation in the middle
east is bad, however to pull out before the area is secure to a certain
extent would be irresponsible. Those who seem to be jumping on the
current president for it would be the first to tell you it would be his
fault if something occurred after we did.

It seems to me those who wish to abandon principles before personalities
would also abandon a ship with a hole in it instead of finding a way to
stop the leak. Solving the problem is much tougher than anyone expected,
yet there will always be those who stand by and pick the rose and never
replant a single seed.

Countryboy Thank you for your post. From a true guard of freedoms might
I hope others will listen to what you have to say. It is important that
people pull their head out of the sand and look around in this great big
world and see that Isolationism is not the way to go.

Does anyone remember Pearl Harbor? That was a direct attack on the US!
The terrorists in this world did the same thing to the Twin Towers. What
will be next if they are not stopped or at least made aware that someone
is willing to stand up and fight for the right to carry the words and
swords of freedom?

peacenicks... cant pull out now. we have to stay to win. ww2 the big one
ended in 1945, we are still in Germany and Japan. Still in Korea. Still
in Vietnam. Still in Bosnia. Still in Afganistan. The day we leave we
lose. The rest of the world will look at that as weakness. We cant just
fold now. I wouldent have went to war but we did and now we must do it
right. Besides you arnt hearing the good news on the liberal/ communist
media. Bush could **** gold bricks and the press would find fault with
it. Wake up and quit supporting the enemy position. It used to be called
treason.

To leave now is only to invite more events like 9/11. If troops are
pulled out stock large cities with possible targets with a supply of
body bags.

well we need to stick it out things will turn out in our favor I guess
when japan attacked pearl harbor we should have just shrugged it off?
Too many liberal weak asses running around. I am sure glad there were
more tougher Americans back in the days of WW2
