Most everybody likes to eat and have a few drinks to loosen up.
Its just the beginning of learning whatthe other is all about.

it doesn't have to be dinner...People are just boring and ask that because they are afraid of rejection...it can be a movie, taking a walk,dancing...

Movies suck no communication, LOL!!! I rather go by myself

cant get to know someone in a theatre, unless you sit all the way on the top blushing row

To go to dinner on a first date?

Because people just don't get into jousting like they used to. And just TRY to find the gaudy robes for the horses....

I like the first date to be lighter, less pressure on both so a walk and sit in the park is nice or lunch and a walk in the park, that kind of thing

It's nice to see how they interact with others, and that can be done at a coffee shop just as easily as having an entire meal.

It doesn't matter to me, although if you're going to use dinner as a first date, I'd choose Teppinyaki (Japanese cuisine). It's interactive and usually gets a few laughs and gives you something to look at while you're eating. Costs a bit more, but it's definitely worth it. Plus it's kind of neat to engage in conversations with the other people sitting next to you.

I kinda hate it when it's too quiet at dinner so you can hear all the chomping, and someone's food is always cold while the other one is chowing down listening.

Yea dinner is weird, movies are stupid. I think I would be overly impressed with a guy who invited me to do something out of the ordinary on a first date.
