Man uses gun for backscratcher, shoots himself

A Fort Worth man trying to scratch an itch on his back used a revolver and accidentally shot himself.

Jorge Espinal, 44, was drinking beer and playing poker around 3 a.m. Sunday in his home in the 3500 block of Montague Street, when he got up from the table and walked into another room, said Fort Worth police Lt. Kenneth Dean.

“He told officers he had an itch on his back and grabbed the first thing he could get a hold of, which was a revolver,” Lt. Dean said. “The gun went off."

Mr. Espinal went back and told his buddies that he shot himself. “They didn’t believe him until they saw the blood coming down his back,” Lt. Dean said.

Mr. Espinal was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

I thought about this also when I saw the title. I guess saying that anyone is tainting the gene pool is really not such a cool thing to say. Rob, no offense intended, I know people say it all the time but maybe it is not a good way of saying it???

Sorry to say this dragoness, then the issue lies with you guys, not me. The race of the person is irrelevant, the stupidity is all that was being pointed out. I think you guys are just a touch sensitive, and are reading more into something that is there. I would have posted this if it would have been my friend. Well, that is not true because my friends are not foolish enough to use a loaded, or unloaded firearm to scratch their back.

Well, I understand where you are coming from with the statement, and I was not calling anyone out on it. People in general make statements about "those who should not be allowed to breed" or "those that taint the gene pool", and it is really not a nice thing to say about anyone be they stupid or another race or whatever. It really shines a bad light on the person saying it. Chlorine could be taken the wrong way also bleaching could mean something you may not have meant.

I am just pointing it out not attacking anyone nor meaning anything other than the origin of the remarks way back when may have been meant badly. Sometimes things carry on and people do not even think of the effect of the statements.

With all due respect, I don't believe that TLW has his own brand of hate. I have found him to be quite different. He just doesn't like people of this nationality targeted.

I wonder if the guy who shot himself happened to be white
