Hi, everyone, sorry I have been away for awhile, been involved on IM
with a guy that tried to scam me, here is the jist of it
I have been online since 1-28-07 with a man who romanced me and made me
think he was in love with me, said he was a structural engineer, doing a
job in Nigeria, Then yesterday I got a Im message from him saying that
the materials he ordered to complete his job were in and he was to pick
them up at the Nigerian Port Authority. Low and behold, he says they
will not release the materials until he pays $35,000 dollars and since
he put all his money in the project, could I send him the $35,000. I
knew right then it was a scam, as he refused every suggestion I had to
help him get his own money. Please be aware of this guy, he is a scam
artist, don't be fooled as there are a lot of loney women such as myself
that WOULD fall for this.

this character

I Would like you guys to pass this around on e-mail or whatever, to get
the word out that this is happening, a new elaborate romance scam.

P.S. He didn't get any of my money, I may be desperate for a man, but I
am not panic stricken!!!

Another thing about this scam, is the person does not want you to tell
anyone they have asked you for money, not family, friends, anyone. They
try to isolate you, and manipulate you to the point that you feel guilty
if you don't give them what they ask for

AND LONG DISTANCE SCAMMERS.....

I TALKED TO A LADY ONCE WHO SENT A GUY 1000 DOLLARS SO HE COULD MOVE TO
HER AND LIVE WITH HER....HE CASHED HER CHECK, BUT NEVER DID SEE HIM OR
TALK TO HIM AGAIN...

Your right Kojak, that is exacrtly what the sheriff's department told me
and if I had give them the money, there isn't a thing they could do
about it because it is international.

Ive also gotton emails like that. stating that they have money in a
bank.and need somweone in the US to help them get it into a states side
account..could i help, and share in the money....Read a letter months
ago from the FBI telling everyone about this Scam... I just send them
back a " GET SCREWED " note when i receive one...What a world we live
in...Geeessssss

Yes, I had someone on another site who I was IM'ing with try to tell me
he was stuck in Africa, couldn't cash his paycheck to get back home
(supposedly local area near me), didn't have a bank of his own, would
send me his check if I could send him the money... when I told him I
wasn't comfortable with it, he got indignant and signed off. I heard
after that that Dr. Phil had a show about these scam artists. Please
ladies be careful!

I have heard of all kinds of scams, but this is new one, a romance scam
where they get you to think they are in love with you, want to marry
you, blah,blah,blah. Believe me there are some people out there that
are desperate enough for a love in their lives to fall for this and send
them the money, especially when they pull at your heart strings.

Boy, you guys have such exciting adventures on the web. I wish he'd
mailed me. I would have sent him a whole bunch of Conferate dollars
that my Grandpa left to me. It may be of antique value in about 200
years. HAHA Right now, best to use it to start a fire

I have been trained by the master manipulator (my son) and I can see
right through you (the scammer)

Yeah on Nigeria and pretty much any W African country. I've been
considering moving to W Africa because from all the messages and emails
I get from so many gorgeous 20 something single gals I can tell over
there I'd be a GOD among men with the women ! ROTFLMAO

IF it's from Nigeria it's a scam and a total waste of ur time anyways
lol!!!

That is just pitiful. About a year ago, I was on Match.com and this
'gentleman' emailed me. He actually had a great profile on the site,
and pictures of a really distinguished looking gentleman. After a few
IMs, he told me he was stuck in Africa and needed to get back home
because his wallet had been stolen. Said he worked for a company in
Florida. So he finally asked me to wire him some money; as soon as he
came up with "I was robbed" story, I KNEW it was s scam. So I decided
to put some pressure on him. I asked, since he was traveling on company
business, why his employer wouldn't pay for his ticket home; he never
answered that. I told him I wouldn't send him any money until he could
prove who he was (I wasn't going to send the bozo anything anyway). He
said he lived in Florida; I asked him what part. He came up with a
town. I asked for his address; he didn't remember it. I asked for his
phone number; he gave me a series of random numbers that made absolutely
no sense. I kept this line of questioning up until he got mad enough to
get indignant with me. I told him "Thanks for staying on the IM line
with me; it gave me an opportunity to acquire your IM address; I'm
contacting the authorities and you're going to get caught." I guess my
scam was scarier to him than his was to me because he really got upset
and finally disconnected.

Word to the wise: just don't deal with anyone who says they're stuck
anywhere and need you to send them money; better yet, just don't deal
with anyone asking for your money.
