Explain some more about the jaded feeling.

Why was christianity fun for you in the beginning

long story short my friend...going to church day and day out for 13 yrs can get boring(same old same old)...there are only so many things you can preach about....Its hard for me to even read my bible anymore(read it three times already lol).....not to mention Ive been hurt by christian but I expect that, doesnt mean it dont hurt:cry: sad ...

Im actually looking for a chruch as we speak, the one Im going to is not working for me, the word is great but the fellowship is exteremly boring......Its missing/or Im missing something I just dont no what it is........

I guess what made it fun in the begining was the joy of being renewd, building quality christian relationships and having a desire to really live the bible out....As time goes by life has a way of harding a person.....I wont go thru the entire list of crap Ive been thru but its been a hard 3 years.....I left my church, got divorced and had to start my entire life over again and thats the PG version lol........over all Im happy (about a 7 on the scale of life) Im just stinkin it up spritually and wanna get the heart I once had for GOD!!!!! Better is one day in his house then a thousand elsewherebigsmile

it is important to keep ur position if u are absolutely positively sur God wants u to move then go right ahaed but if he is telling u to stay then dont disobey who knows he may want to use u mightly in that assembly be strong my sister you can make it he is with u always go deeper forget about ppl and Press in he is callin you

This just sounds like you're bored with your church.

In your OP you mentioned being tired of denying yourself.

Maybe you just need to find a more lively church. bigsmile

I see you're a shipwright Rooster,

I've restored a few wooden boats myself, just as a hobby. The largest one being a 35 ft yawl. I bought the boat in dry dock, restored it about 2/3 of the way. And then sold it in dry dock. Although I never sailed her in reality I did voyage around the world in her in my mind. laugh

More realistically, I had a 14 ft wooden snipe that I restored (and sailed quite frequently). Then I had a 17 ft. Thistle, also a wooden boat. I sailed that boat quite a few times too. Currently I have a 17ft, Siren sloop. It's a fiberglass yacht with a cabin. I'm actually doing some restoration work on it this summer. It has a few wooden handrails and trim that I'm restoring.

I've always wanted to build a sailboat from scratch. In fact, there was one I really had my eye on. It was only something like 15 ft. But it had a full cabin! I though the plans were quite clever. It was really wide and had a small cockpit allowing for a fuller cabin on such a small boat. The foot of the mast was supported by an arched wooden beam structure so that there was no need for a pole in the cabin to support it. It also had a large bowsprit to allow for a larger Genoa jib. The boom also extend aft beyond the transom. So the sail area was comparable to a much larger boat closer to like a 19 footer.

Whoever designed that boat was a genius. I saw several pictures of the finished boat with testimonials and all the builders said the boat handled very well and the cabin was roomy.

I'm too old to build one now. That was a dream I had a long time ago and it just remained a dream.

But I do still have this siren which I'm actually looking to sell (not sail) laugh

I've been sailing my Hobie 16 and my brothers lightning these past few year's,,,, He's thinking about getting a 16ft snipe, since he sold his lightning,,,,,I built a sobot in high school and a snipe right after that,,,,,,I love buiding and repair work, but I had to get out of it. To hard on the knees and back,,,,,and alot of a-holes in the trade,,,,,I wish i could say I've sailed a thistel a real hot rod on the water,,,,,,I enjoy your threads,,,,very thoughtful, and positive!!!!
Yes I too am a land locked sailor,,,,,So i read books about Nelson, Drake, Cook, and others of that time period,,,,,it's off the hook!!!!!

Yes it was. In fact, I raced against some professional racers. They were just practicing in Traverse Bay Michigan. So I just informally raced with them. They were amazed, because they too were racing a thistel. But they had modern all fiberglass thistle.

No, I didn't beat them. But damn near!!!

They were amazed that I could keep up with them in a wooden boat. I mean it was close!! They only beat me by a boatlength! It wasn't like they put me to shame. In fact I was actually ahead of them at one point and they were desperate to catch up! laugh

In truth, I blame it more on the old crummy sails I had more than because the hull was made of wood. It was a very lightweight boat for as big as it was. I think if I had brand new sails I might have beat them. My sails were quite old and had lost their aerodynamic efficency.

NONSENSE AS SALVATION

The human race will begin solving it's problems on the day that it ceases taking itself so seriously.

If you can master nonsense as well as you have already learned to master sense, then each will expose the other for what it is: absurdity. From that moment of illumination, a man begins to be free regardless of his surroundings. He becomes free to play order games and change them at will. He becomes free to play disorder games just for the hell of it. He becomes free to play neither or both. And as the master of his own games, he plays without fear, and therefore without frustration, and therefore with good will in his soul and love in his being.

I have to agree with JB, you have been constricted too long and now want a little licentious (stolen from woudee) debaucherous larking about.

why not do it then?

If your god is all forgiving, then you could wave you knickers in the air at a baptist revival meeting and you would have his attention. (plus a few hallelujahs from the happy clappers) .. and more importantly his forgiveness ... if thats what you need to do to survive, then go for it ...

p.s. not paying your taxes is not an anti-christian thing, and wont get you gods attention, but the IRS may have something to say about it.

I solved the tax problem.

If you don't want to pay taxes, just don't make any money.

It's simple. bigsmile

Well actually you need some renewal. You aren't satisfied with routine things anymore & that's a good thing.

The Bible says Wake up O sleeper.

God is calling us to not be satisfied with our humdrum lives but TO something more. His kingdom come in all its fullness. We should not be satisfied with anything less.

It's time to desire that to the point of crying out for that something more. The time of passivity & indifference is over.

Hmmmmm I never thought of it that way...thanks:smile:

BTW...I just want to make one more comment to address what you said about feeling left out or the missing out on life thing.

When you think of all the heartache people are going through...divorce...addictions... anger & bitterness from life experiences etc etc. You will realize that you really aren't missing out on anything. The enemy would like you to be stuck in the miry clay with those sort of distracting thoughts.

I use to think that way...that obeying God meant missing out on things of life. God made me realize that His standards ARE the best thing for me & anything less never was enough for me. It was like "What was I thinking????"

Ask God to elevate your thoughts to agree with His about you & your life. He will do that because He does love you & wants to show you His great purpose for you. He will show you what you are missing IN HIM.
