I work in an office where there are other people who sublet offices. I'm not employed by them, we just share space. Today, MR. VP, wanted to know if I would be there tomorrow morning at 8 because he was expecting a very important package. I told him yes, I would be, and he wanted to know if that was an affirmative, because if there was no one there the package wouldn't be delivered and he'd be screwed.

If it was the norm I wouldn't give it a second thought.
Now if you are normally not there at that time, I'd advise him to be there bright and early just in case

well, on the first part, if he is not your boss, decline the package and on the quoted part....he'll be one step up on most of us on here
