The ability to sit in a relaxed atmosphere where two people can casually get to know each other over a delicious meal and determine if there is more upon which to draw nearer???? flowerforyou

I think dinner is a perfect date because it provides you with an atmosphere that is both private enough to talk, yet public enough to feel safe in. It is an activity that requires little thought, freeing up your time to get to know each other, but allows enough distraction that you're not just staring at each other like a couple of stupid fish in a bowl.

some good points here. I would say a little thought put into it can make a difference between a date that is so-so and one that is memorable.

It can provide an easy relaxing way to learn more about one another; one's likes, dislikes and habits.

It should also be about the whole experience.
Taking the time to find out what your date's preferences are in food, drink, entertainment/
activities, and planning the dining experience around that makes the date more special.
