Child abuse:

Genesis 22:9 & 10 “And they came to the place which God had told him of and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.” It matters not that god let Abraham get out of murdering Isaac. To put a knife up to your son’s throat is child abuse.

I Kings 3:24-25 “And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other." This test was of course given to see who the real mother of the child was. Christians view this king as a wise man. .

Proverbs 13:24, 19:18, 22:15, 23:13-14 & 29:15 God commands repeatedly that you beat your children.

Matthew 19:29 If you really loved Jesus then he insists that you abandon your wife and children for him. Only that way will he allow you to go to heaven. (That is if you meet his other hefty requirements, don’t slip through the loopholes, and ignore the contradictions.

)

Mark 7:9 Jesus criticizes the Jews for not killing their disobedient children according to Old Testament law.

Sadly the gospels of Jesus are filled with these kinds of contraditions. One moment he's telling people not to cast stones a sinners (the woman at the well). And then next moment he's chastising the pharisees for not adhering to God's commandment to kill unruly children.

So here Jesus seems to be condoning the continuation of adhering to that commandment of God.

Then according to both the Old Testament, and to the very words of Jesus, we should still be killing our unruly children.

Why aren't Chrsitians killing their unruly children then?

And how does this stand in the face of God's orginal commandement that Thou Shalt not Kill? Clearly God had indeed commanded people to kill their unruly children. There can be no doubt about that. It's clearly stated in the Old Testament.

And according to the gospel of Mark, Jesus continued to support the Old Testament commandments of God. Jesus even stated that he did not come to change the laws.

So why aren't Christians obeying God and Jesus? Why don't Christians kill their unruly childrend?

Why don't Jews kill their unruly children?

Clearly if the Jews believe only in the Old Testament they should be killing their unruly children. That what God wants us to do. He said so in his very own book!

If people truly believe that the bible is the word of God they should be killing their unruly children.

Clearly they don't believe that this stupid book is the word of God. Clearly they are just kidding themselves for whatever reasons. Either they were taught to be afraid to reject the religion, or they are lusting for the promise of everlasting life in a perfect heaven.

There is not reaon to LOVE a God who tells you to kill your unruly children. There would have never been a population explosion if people had been killing their unruly children.

There wouldn't be very many children making it to adulthood. frown

He's not talking about killing as much as he's talking about discipline. Mark 7:9 and after is a passage talking about providing for your family ahead of giving to the church. Jesus also said not to put family ahead of him or anything else for that matter. The thing with Isaac was a test of Abraham's obedience to God. Never heard it put as a case of child abuse before. The real child abuse in the OT is when some of the people roundabouts sacrificed kids in a fire to a god named Molech. Kind of a greusome thing. Then there was a king who threw Daniel and three companions into a furnace. Nice guy, that one.

And Solomon was just splitting heirs.

Contradictions , contradictions and MORE contradictions . Thanks .

I used to have a lot of problems with biblical contradictions. I mean, 66 books, thousands of pages, who could figure it out? I found the book The Purpose Filled Life put a real good framework onto the whole Christian experience. If you're experiencing confusion over the whole biblical thing, I recommend reading that book (It's $10 at any Wal Mart, a bit less on the Internet). It'll really set you straight.

Basically, it sets a walk by faith into five categories: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and mission and says life is a temporary assignment, a test and a trust (a trust about what we'll do with God's resources). After that, we take it from there and build upon all those areas.

Check it out. Well worth the time, I think.

It's makes you wonder if people really don't get it or are just splitting hairs....they just don't want to get it.

Nonetheless, truth is truth. :smile: God does not want us to place value on the things of this world, even our spouses or children more than Him because He is the source of all wisdom & salvation from harm under the curse. That's the point missed by the carnal minds that post.

Abra;

Mark 7:9 says "And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!"

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!
