You're in a grocery store, department store or anywhere. A guy comes up to (you think he's he's attractive) you and hits on you and asks you for your phone number. What is your reponse?

1. Give him a phony number.
2. Give him your real number?
3. Other...
If other what do you say/do?

Guys.... have you ever done this? If so what happened?

Ladies would you ever do this..hit on strange guy?

Ask him for HIS number and tell him thet I will call him when I get the chance. This way I can block my number in case he isn't such a nice guy. Gotta be on the side of caution these days.flowerforyou

have never done this type of thing before...but just to spice things up a bit I'd give it a try and give him my real number.

I agree that we have to be cautious these days. I think I may ask him for his number if he was attractive. Or maybe suggest we meet somewhere for coffee to get to know each other a little. You know we all know the red flags that pop up now and then so a few meetings in a public place is a good start.

I actually had this happen at the grocery store and the man handled it beautifully. We'd had a great conversation during which he expressed the desire of wanting to talk further about mutual interests and casually slipping in that fact that there was no one in his life.

He borrowed a pen at the deli and wrote down his name and phone number and gave to me stressing his desire that we continue our conversation and would be looking forward to it. Before he walked away, he stopped and handed me his business card, too.

Did I call him? Yes. He not only put the ball in my court but his actions showed respect and alleviated concern on my part. Later he said that he was afraid the business card might scare me off (as he thought guy's handed them out randomly like cookies), but he hoped I would see it as making it more comfortable for me to know a little more about who he was.

I think I blushed and walked away giggling. I'm too bashful to be approached like that. blushing

My # giving out all depends on how a man approaches me. If he came at me w/ intelligence and respect, why not? # giving is not a marriage contract

I wouldn't give my number away to a complete stranger. I would rather chat and have a drink, but totally be around other people, I don't trust srtangers very well. I just wouldn't make myself vulnerable if you know what I mean.

Well 'hitting on someone' sounds a bit um....

I have had people start conversations with me, whether it was a pick up or not, not sure...

I'm very particular with my phone numbers and private email addresses and do not share them lightly. I've had serious issues with stalkers in the past and have learned my lesson in trusting so quickly so easily unfortunately.

So no I would not be sharing them with a stranger in a grocery store. I might suggest going to get a cup of coffee after leaving the grocery however if there was a 'click' of attraction.

I would never give anyone a phony number.

I wouldn't be comfortable. I'd probably say "I am flattered, but uncomfortable with this." I'd also make sure he didn't follow me to my car. I would surely look for him everytime I went back to that store though!happy
