I think that eventually you have to take the distance out of the equation...the question is, when? Too early and it's smothering, to late and it could be lost. If the couple communicates well, they can figure it out. IMO flowerforyou

If it feels like work then it is work ...

Eventually the distance has to be closed. Yes they can be successful and in my own experience it is because of the level of commitment, communication and shared vision.

It doesn't feel hard ... it doesn't feel like work. It just feels like taking the steps necessary until we can be together for more than visits ...

We have the issue of a different country and an ocean. For those of you within driving distance ... that isn't "long-distance" ... laugh it is all relative ... flowerforyou

I am talking to a guy long distance...communication is very slim because of his job. It's hard for me because of the distance...but I try my best to stay committed. If he doesn't seem to care, I just go my separate way...but he always seem to pull me back in when I feel things are fading. Long distance can work...but you have to have patience and a lot of communication.

Thanks sugar.. the distance is a problem if you make it a problem.granted a person wants more physical time with their other person but if you rule all the long distance people all you're doing is settling for someone because they're close and might miss out on the best thing of your life because of distance.. go for broke. you might find the love you have been waiting for ..i did..  love

I think long distance relationships will ultimately fail once you get together. The reason is simple. A person can look far better than they are from a distance. They can hide parts of themselves you would see if you lived near them.

I had a long distance relationship. I moved for her. It was one of the worst mistakes of my life. I'd never do it again and I'd recommend you never do it.

I'd move for someone...but then again I don't tend to think things through all that well.
