Is spelling important to you in these type of venues? In a place where words should have an important role in wheather you get the heart of that sweet person you have your eyes set on or not... would grammar be an issue?

Proper spelling and such is always preferred and highly appreciated.

Do I notice spelling/grammar, etc in someone's posting or correspondence? Yes. Do I expect perfection? No, but I do want an honest effort to be articulate. It's like using good manners and being polite when you're speaking to someone, in my opinion.

Yes and no. I mean, the 'I'm typing to fast' or can't take the time to look up one word' doesn't bother me.
The ones that I can't figure out what they are talking about bother me. The ones that use text messaging shorthand to talk really annoy me. You don't have to hit a number a bunch of times to get to a letter here. You don't have a tiny window to work with. "You" and "are" are not that challenging....... |

It matters to me because it is of interest to me. I don't want to be with someone who doesn't love language the way I do.

I have this thing about grammar. I guess because I am an English major (one more year). That is what the dictionary and the spell checker is for...use it. Small grammar mistakes are okay...constant grammar mistakes gets on my nerves.

I should add that drunk emails are annoying when I have no idea what someone is talking about. Because they didn't get their hands on the right keys.....

To get to know someone this way you must be able to understand what they are typing to you. If every other word is mispelled and there is no punctuation how can you be sure you are getting the message they are sending out? |
