this might seem like a dumb question at first or maybe it is... but why do people still care about politics? Why do people believe in a good politics in high places like president? From what i saw they always says what people want to hear and then completely do something else. From my reasoning I am thinking they say what everyone wants to hear than they do what the rich people want once they are elected for the money. Please dont give specific answers why I am wrong because yes politics dont do all wrong but over all they do. This is a subject that I found no one ever knows a real answer but im hoping to see new view points.

Its just fun to argue about. People have their addictions, like some people love celeb gossip, others like politics, and then theres us who just don't care and go play World of Warcraft and pet kittens drinker

so pretty much the only reason people care about politics is because its something to do? seem rather an odd interest on watching what a politic says and see what he does.

the political process represents the will of the people..ALL the people, and its your responsibility to be involved and hold your elected leaders accountable for what they do or dont do..they are there to represent the interests of everyone, not just a few elite..however when you give that up then you give up your voice and loose not only your right to complain but your right to be represented...

People in politics are all rats and scumbags. I'd trust a car salesman rather than someone in office. And what do they do when people elect them? NOTHING

The US congress has yet to do anything important other than making earmarks to line their pockets. And i hope the people who voted for them are happy, because none of the people i voted for got in. Which means i have every right to complain about what other people thought was a good idea.

When majority rules, nothing but crap comes out. My cat could do a better job than all those people in D.C.

eh i dont want to be rude or mean but i dislike when people say its my responsibility to follow the crowd on what people are suppose to do. i always had a disliking in seeing old people(the politicians ) talking about topics that may or may not even happen. I disagree about your opinion on losing my right to complain. How did I lose the right? Did someone somehow without my knowing said since you dont have an interest in politics you now dont have the right to speak about it?

You have a fundamental right to vote.

That is in two parts

to vote
or
not to vote.

If you decide not to vote then you really shouldnt moan about what happens to your social systems.

That isnt aimed at the OP by the way.

No one can take away your right to vote (unless there is a dramatic shift in your country's policies, or you get over run by the Chinese)
So dont let anyone say to you, "Use it or lose it"
Its rubbish.

But what I would say is that if you do not agree with the current administration and your belief in the other bunch of idiots is also pretty thin, then use your vote to a good cause and vote independant.

Again, this is only my opinion, and in my country we have three main parties, not just the two you have, and to be honest, I only vote for the smallest one, because they want to introduce "Proportional Representation"
That is where EVERYONE's vote counts.

Of course the big two in the UK will never allow it, as they know they would get their butts kicked.

So, I believe you have independants on your ballot paper.

If you want to not vote, then fine, but if you want to protest, I believe an independant vote should be something to think about.

Why shouldn't people care about politics?

Government plays a role in everything! From the imported coffee we drink each morning to the roads we drive on to get to work. From the hours we work and how much money we make. They play a role in the school budgets, hospital grants, medicare, social security, affordable housing, welfare, and right down to the water we drink and air we breathe.

Why care about politics? Wouldn't you want to play a role in your life?

tell me why i cant moan about the current events when i dont agree with pretty much how things are running in our country. theres no sense of trust that anything that the PEOPLE want will happen. Dont say I am not American or something that is so shallow and you have not thought about why I am moaning. I am American because im using my right to moan about how things are running now. Its our right as Americans to do this unlike a lot of countries around the world. Instead of going off topic I made this thread to listen to people opinions on politics hopefully a good one somewhere. I dont care if you agree with what i said or not im here to see people many view points.

Yes they do you come up with a great point. i prob gave the impression that government doesnt do anything for the people. I am all for having a government. but to me they give the impression that most if not all are there for the money and only do these things so people can get off their backs. this prob sounds idealistic and it is but politics should be looked as people that actually want to make a better life as a whole than their selfish greeds.

i was going to get into that later but thats what i have learned too. for example almost every single war in the past the serect motivation for going to war is for land, profit, or natural resources. when i bring this up right away people just totally disagree and they turn into a rock and wont see any other view point but what they have in their heads.

All people should get involved in politics because politicians bring laws , wars , peace ...
and many aspects of life that touch everyone directly or not directly . Also by getting involved one way or another people will eventually bring change . Yes , politics is run by big money and it depends on how much a candidate can raise money , but people still have a verdict to give .
Politics and religion affect all people and therefore everyone should get educated and follow the reality instead of the myths and propaganda .
