Be careful what any doctors tell you about treatments!!!! Too many of them figure that cutting on women is the way to go!!!

PLEASE don't take their word for that until you've had 2 or even maybe 3 more opinions!!!! I know I'm a man saying this, but my spouse took the word of a doctor and afterwards she became a TOTALLY different person!!!!

They hurt like hell and are usually successfully treated with birth control pills or go away on their own over time. They usually don't get big enough to do any damage, but should be watched if it does not go away with treatment as they can damage the ovary badly if they do grow too big. In this case they can be removed effectively, and with little scaring using laproscopic surgery, and you should be able to go home within hours of waking from he anesthesia.

Unless they enlarge you should be Ok, alot of women have them for years, and the Dr's just watch them closely. They are very painful at times, if you have a good gyno, he/she will make sure you have adequate pain killers, but still hurt a bit.
That sums up what I was told yesterday after ultrasound. That there are two "substantial" ones. I go back in 4 weeks. I'm the most concerned about a rupture or an emergency due to being out of town and was wondering what the odds of that happening might be.

Did she have a hysterectomy? That will cause early menopause if they take the ovaries... I know plenty of women that have had them and they are fine, they just need hormones which now there are plenty of naturally made hormones.

ive got endometriosis and i have had ovarian cysts, they ust come and go all the time. one operation they were there, the next gone, then they come back, all probably due to my endometriosis, adhesions, scaring etc

Thank you, she is much better now. Her first cyst ruptured in 2005, she was on a ventilator for 5 days. Exactly 1 yr later she had to have the same surgery, another one developed and ruptured. They had her on birth control and then took her off, it only took 6 weeks for another cyst to develop and rupture. She was 21 when this all began. She now has to stay on the pill until she decides to become pregnant - then I'm sure they will have to watch her carefully until that happens.

I have heard that early twenties are the most likely to have them in rampant succession like that...she may grow out of it as her own hormones change. I hope so.

The two don't go hand in hand at all actually. Endometriosis is genetic mostly, and Ovarian cysts are due to hormonal fluctuations for the most part.
