Are some guys kind of blushing clueless when it comes to talking for the first time to a woman online? Here's some hints from a woman who is down to earth. Say "hello" . Offer information about yourself:wink: . Don't ask her alotgrumble of questions at firstnoway . Offer your information, and tell her abit about yousmokin , even tell her what you expect from this. Give her plenty of oportunities to comment on what you are saying. Then you may ask some questiosn, such as, "Have you been happy on this website?" "What do you like about it?" "Have you met anyone from here?" "What kinds of things do you like to do?" flowerforyou "Would you be interested in going out to dinner with me?" (just some basics, that would meet with my expectations) ...Ladies, pwwwwwease help me explain this stuff to them?

Its just not one sided.

ive had girls give me nothing to respond too. you cant make us do all the work this is a Dating site, not a bar/meeting someone randomly.

but i will admit, i know guys who are bad about it and say wrong things.

You certainly look like a gentleman who doesn't have any problems in this art of conversationlove

I have a theory I call "Irony When Faced With Real, Interrupting The Image". This theory states that:

The assumption of one's thought about how we perceive another is almost always different after that other person opens his or her mouth to talk.

While I much love giving people the benefit of the doubt (and let's face it, on here we almost HAVE to do that), 9 times out of 10, first impressions in an online world are, at best, a crap shoot. This is due mostly to the limited function of words on a screen substituted for body language, facial expressions, and voice pitch.

Conversely, those same "words on a screen" have such an odd empowering effect, people (guys and girls) say things on here they would NEVER say to someone's face, offline, "in real life".

Finally, there are two kinds of people online. Those that view the Internet as an extension of reality, and those that view it as an escape from reality. In many cases, it takes but a single conversation to figure out what a person's intentions are on here.

Just my (not so) humble opinion... of course, I could be wrong.

Hello, that is an excellent analysis. Especially, "two kinds of people online. Those that view the Internet as an extension of reality, and those that view it as an escape from reality." I'm one of those escape from reality gals...I like to relax and use my wits as an escape from bordom, etc. But, back to your point, tonight I had the unpleasant experience of chatting with a guy (from my own town) who literally had a temper ALL CAPS tantrum on me when I said, "well, thanks for the chat, I have to go now" to which he responded, "oh, Oh!" to which I responded "bye bye; I don't think that we are a good match here, and I hope you have a nice life" to which he responded that I was RUDE.

That just goes to show how sad some people can be on here, and how crazy some people get when it comes to relationships in this world.

ive had one person blow up on me because i went afk for a smoke break and i came back to over 15 lines of messages saying "where are you, why arent you talking to me" ETC. it makes no sense to me why someone i havent really been talking too can become so heartbroken or flustered and possesive.

meh, people will be what they want to on the internet. the anonimity of a computer screen is priceless.
