What gets me is people on here who bashes the education of people...That they should not vote, all on welfare etc..I dropped out in 9th grade because of family problems, not because I wanted to. I work a good job by many standards, raised a daughter, own my home and feel I have earned the respect of my community..I keep up on currant events, ask questions and try to stay informed...I might not have the book smarts but life sure has taught me a lot..One thing is that even the smartest people just don't get it sometimes..It can be right in front of them and they still just don't get it..What I have told you I don't tell a lot of people...You know they kinda tend to look down on you!!! So if someone says something that might sound stupid to you, don't bash him, ridicule him, make fun of him..First listen to what comes out if your own mouth and second teach him if you can do so without degrading him..This probably makes no sense to you because it was written by an uneducated man...Good day goodbye and so long!!!!

Book learning and life learning are too very different things, most of the time. I work with people with multiple advanced degrees and sometimes I wonder how they ever make it through their day. And some of the smartest, most common sensical people I know are like you, not educated in the conventional sense but still smarter and more in tune with the world.

Obviously it doesn't get to you, nor should it flowerforyou flowerforyou

Congrats to you dear man! You've achieved alot more "smarts" then many of the highly educated. You also showed you have compassion...that doesn't come from any book!

Im not looking for praise..Just wanted to open some people eyes up..Some people dont have the chance to make some choices..Its dosnt make them less of a person...

It is not necessarily the amount of education a person has, but the "type", the world is far too complicated in my opinion to has anyone in the White House. I have spent a great deal of time outside of the classroom educating myself, being involved with community and local politics, but I bet people would not find my qualified to be VP with a Dance Degree.

Believe me a local newscaster is all about the cameras, I went to school with a bunch of "Journalist" majors. That scares me.

"Educated" people are some of the dumbest human beings I have ever met...give me a graduate of the school of "hard knocks" any day...THATS someone who knows what he-she is talking about...

 Im around "educated" people all day and they are just like every one else. However, that being said, a quality education DOES count for something. So I guess I see it both ways.bigsmile

It takes very little effort to write a readable sentence. Are my posts all grammatical correct? No, but they are readable.

To me, sloppy, misspelled posts reflect a lack of respect for the readers of the post.

It takes very little effort to find out the structure and function of your government as well. This is a forum on a website! Do a search of the net! Go to the library!

Do I criticize those that do not bother to use spell check, capital letters, sentences or paragraphs? Yes I do.

Did I ever say people should not be allowed to vote because they lacked formal education? No

I left school at sixteen and had three children. For many years I was unable to avail myself of a formal education. So, I went to the library and read. I was lucky. Later in life I was able to attend college.

Why did I make the effort to educated myself? Pride, curiosity and the desire not to be or appear to be a stupid lazy person. Those were all factors.

HA! HA! HA!

It's funny to see this thread today. Why?

September 24 Today we're celebrating . . . National Punctuation Day

Punctuation Day
Commas, and semi-colons, and explanation marks. Oh my!

A day to appreciate the lowly punctuation mark.

So in honor of the day vow never again to ignore the ” , ” or ” * ” or even the mighty ” . “!

I like to have fun with punctuation. Sometimes I do it 'right'. Most of the time I use it 'wrong' because I will allways be a hippie...

And proper punctuation as far as I'm concerned is a tool of 'the man'.

Steppin outside the lines opens paths beyond the box.

education does not make you intelligent it teaches you what the teacher wants you to know

intelligence is the ability to weigh the information and evaluate it

and if yer good you will get it right maybe 35% of the time
