haha So, McCain cancels at the last minute saying he has to get back to Washington to work on this bail-out. Reasonable right?
Except that's a lie. Instead he went to give Katie Couric an interview. He wasn't rushing back to D.C. to do his job. Now, I am sure posters will say,it's just a t.v. appearance it's trivial to point this out. Well, yes to some extent they are right. As Dave rightly points out had he been doing his job, at his desk for the last...how many years...perhaps this wouldn't be happening. Then there's another issue worth looking at. Why is it necessary for McCain to suspend his campaign? His running mate, Sarah Palin, should be able to step up and run a campaign right? After all, she is suppose to be able to step up and run things if McCain is unable to fulfill the obligations of the office right? If she can't step up to run a campaign what makes anyone think she can step up and run the country? Oh and before you right wingers chirp about liberal media...remember, John McCain announced his presidential run on Letterman. He has appeared over ten times on the show and has called Letterman a friend. -------------- Letterman: McCain’s Cancellation Not Funny By Bill Carter David Letterman Senator John McCain may have disappointed many expectant voters and debate viewers with the decision to suspend his campaign, but none more so than a late-night talk show host on CBS. David Letterman was so unhappy that Mr. McCain canceled his scheduled appearance on his show Wednesday night that he spent much of the first segment assailing the senator’s decision and suggesting “something doesn’t smell right” about the Senator’s plan to go to Washington to work on the financial crisis. Mr. Letterman told his audience that Senator McCain had called him directly on short notice Wednesday, to tell him he had to cancel his appearance. After expressing his admiration for Mr. McCain and his sacrifice as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, Mr. Letterman said, “When you call up at the last minute and cancel, that’s not the John McCain I know.” He repeated that “something smells right now” and he suggested “somebody must have put something in his Metamucil.” Mr. Letterman said Mr. McCain had said the economy was “about to crater” which necessitated that he get to Washington right away. Mr. Letterman then suggested that McCain should not be suspending his campaign at all and that he could have “sent in the second-string quarterback,” his vice presidential running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, to fill in for him. “You don’t quit,” Mr. Letterman said. After suggesting that Ms. Palin should be prepared to step up and “be ready,” because “the poor guy is getting a little older,” Mr. Letterman reconsidered and said of Ms. Palin’s readiness, “Don’t get me started.” Even after Mr. Letterman brought out Keith Olbermann, the MSNBC host and vituperative Republican critic as the substitute guest for Mr. McCain, he continued to assail Mr. McCain for the decision to cancel the appearance. His critique reached a high point when he learned that at the very moment Mr. McCain was supposed to be on the couch next to him being interviewed, the senator was at the CBS News center three blocks away in Manhattan, getting ready to be interviewed by the CBS News anchor, Katie Couric. Mr. Letterman ordered his director to put on a live feed from that location, which showed Mr. McCain getting made up to go on with Ms. Couric. “He doesn’t seem to be racing to the airport,” Mr. Letterman observed. After listening to some questions from Ms. Couric, Mr. Letterman said, “Hey, John, I’ve got a question: You need a lift to the airport?” He then asked Mr. Olbermann if he thought this was all Mr. McCain’s fault, or whether other factors had come into play. “He ditched you,” Mr. Olbermann said. |

Had he actually gone to Washington I would have understood.
Silly thing is, why couldn't Palin step up and do the interview? Scheduling...okay fine I'll buy that. Why can't she step up and fulfill McCain's campaign obligations? Could it be because she is unprepared? I'll bet you a dollar, in the squeeze to get the debates in before the election that the debate that will be dropped are the veep candidates debate. That way Palin's deficits will not be exposed and the republicans can continue to perpetuate the myth of her ability to fulfill the obligations of the office. Oh, and here's another silly thing to consider. World events, wars, financial crisis, terrorism...those events do not wait in line. Any able candidate must be able to handle multiple events at once. If McCain cannot handle doing his job and campaigning at once what else can't he handle? The suspension of his campaign was either a cheap political stunt or an admission he cannot do or think about more than one issue at a time. |

Obama and Biden are both senators.
If they cancel some appearances to be present for debates, meetings and votes that makes sense. Just as it would for McCain. Palin's presence is not required. So where the hell is she? Umm where has she been by the way? She certainly hasn't been answering questions has she? Since she has become the republican veep nominee the debateablly bat**** crazy President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran has given more news conferences and taken more unrehearsed questions than she has! This is suppose to be a free and open society. She is suppose to be a competant and capable adult. Not just a celeb right? Screw Caribou Barbie...I want to hear some answers from her. |

They are stonewalling all the way to November 4. Fortunately, enough (but not by much) of the American people aren't stupid enough to tolerate this and the polls are beginning to reflect our fatigue with the McCain-Palin sad act.

1956deluxe,
McCain can't use a computer because he was tortured so badly that it hurts to raise his hands above his waist. He hasn't combed his own hair or tied his own shoes in over 30 years, because it's impossible for him to raise or lower his arms that far. That was news...oh about 8 years ago. Would you now like to make fun of quadriplegics for not wiping their own butts? How about mocking blind children's video game and sports skills? Lynann and David Letterman, The current financial crisis was created by democrats who insisted on removing credit history as a valid criteria for getting a house loan. Millions of people are defaulting on their mortgages and with nobody buying houses, the banks and financial institutions have suffered. As far as McCain doing his job...he has. Look it up, Bush, McCain, Charlie Rangle (Democrat!!!!!) and many others have been screaming about this. Greenspan warned American about it twice a year since around 1994. Stop listening to the talking points and actually freaking learn something. This is important!!! It's not about Democrat vs Republican, it's about America. We are going into Recession a very deep and very long one because nobody would listen while McCain WAS doing his job. |
