Topic: Debate #1 | |

hahaha the first time it was on I turned off the sound and just watched their body language and espressions. that was VERY interesting personally I think the challenges we are facing in the next few years are beyond either of them our biggest mistake is framing everything in a neocon/liberal culture war. While we are engaged in these petty arguments the rest of the world is passing us by the more of your post i read the more i respect you thoughts ![]() ![]() ![]() |

as to be expected the liberals think Obama hit a home run and the conservatives think McCain won and as far as I can tell the 10% that will decide this election see it as a draw and the 1% that see it as a loss for all of America. i must fit in the cross between loss for america and mccain winning as the outcome Obama wins... America remains the same with a bit more liberal adgenda. McCain wins... America remains the same with a bit more conservative agenda. America remains the same WE lose. We don't need more of the same. We need true change and that will not come from the current crop of politicians. None of them have the courage to stand tall against the rest of them. None of them have the courage to stand tall for US. |

but the current crop of politicians were selected by we the people. they are reflection of what the people are thinking. the only way to change Washington is to change the people

I turned off the sound and just watched their body language and espressions. that was VERY interesting Hey quiet, please share your thoughts on that. That must have been cool. I do think it was a draw on the issues. Body language... not so much. |

body language wise it was kinda what you would have expected
it looked like an old been there done that guy wagging his finger at the young'un I swear I saw Obama with his hands over his ears going "la-la-la-la" hahaha |

body language wise it was kinda what you would have expected it looked like an old been there done that guy wagging his finger at the young'un Good way to put it. It also appeared the young'un was - not listening - waiting for his chance to interupt and show that ole guy a thing or two. and once or twice appeared to be petulant. |
the second time I watched it I listened to what they were saying (mostly it was a repetition of talking points I heard already)
but Obama did seem measured and reasonable. I liked that |

McCain looked like a pompous, arrogant and angry man.You should show respect to your opponent in a debate and you look them in the eye.I won't vote for McCain the Bush clone. My way or the highway is not good leadership. I saw McCain not telling the truth and Obama have to say, "That's not the truth." I liked how Obama was keeping his cool and acting respectful. He showed some class. I saw McCain sneering. It was creepy to me. He was condescending. He kept clenching his jaw and showing that he was stressed. He looked like he could be hotheaded and lose his temper easily. That bothers me immensely. |
well like I said
the liberals and the conservatives all saw what they already wanted to see in the first place so I'm kinda discounting all that |
and once or twice (Obama) appeared to be petulant. Were you watching with your FauxNews 3D glasses? |

You know, I wish Obama could really go after McCain, but the risk is he'd be portrayed as a scary "angry black man," and he's way too smart to step into that.
McCain can be dismissive and condescending, but Obama needs to stay cool and that's exactly what he did. |

I still say we are in a maybe fatal mistake of trying to view everything in the neocon/liberal culture war mindset
we are limiting ourselves to a kind of tunnel vision and SOOOO many things are being ignored because of it and I DO think it may be fatal |

Nope I watched it on the CNN.
You know, the channel that Obama asked everyone to watch it on. I had been flipping channels between the stations and watched some Lou Dobbs. Figured CNN would cover it as well as anyone else (at least untill the debate was over and all the 'experts' started jawin over it). |
