How old do you think or if you do think it is ok to Pierce your childs
ears? I know this is a touchy topic with my family so pls dont hate me
for what i think lol just asking what others think as well? My daughter
is 3 months and i am getting her ears pierced on sunday. i got mine done
when i was 2 weeks old my mom is a hair dresser and she did it. So i am
gonna get her to do my daughters. i figure its not like a tat you can
take them out and the holes will grow over. What does everyone else
think?

all depends on you hun. Some say best to do it immediately, but I look
abck at my childrens birth and think, gosh what they have just gonet
hrough to come give us hugs. Why make them suffer again, so soon? A
cousin had triplets, all three girls, and they had the ears done
immediatley in different color stones, in order to help distinguish
them. But in the end it is up to you.

I did my daughter's before she turned one.....then she took them out in
kindergarten because she didn't like them and hasn't worn them since.
She is in middle school now! She plays sports and many of them require
you to take them out!

I had my first daughter's ears peirced when she was about a month
old...She didn't really bother much with her ears...

When I had my second daughter's ears done, she was a bit older, and
always tugged on her ears, until they were really red and sore...

After that, I did not peirce my children's ears...I have 2 other
girls...

I think that it is up to you, if you are going to peirce your daughter's
ears...She is your child after all, and you are the one that makes the
decisions in her life, until she is old enough to make those decisions
on her own.

Hey,

i just saw on a show of Rachel Ray that a children's doctor said it's
safe to pierce your child's ears after they are 1 years old.

The doctor said because that because the earings are large on a child,
they can take them apart and possibly swollowing them.

i'm personally against it. i knew one child who was angry...took her's
out...and always has a hole there. they don't grow over, and she's got
the mark from the earrings...i think a child should be old enough to
understand that they are getting holes in their head.

my mother had mine done quite young, and one of them became so infected
it rotted through just about...i now can't wear normal earrings in that
ear, the hole is too large and can literally be seen through. looks
like i attempted to stretch it...and i certainly wish it had never been
done.

Like the others it is totally your choice, I have 3 daughters and we
waited until they asked for them, my 19 yr old has her ears, tongue,
bellybutton, and god only knows what else pireced, the 16 yr old has 6
holes in each ear, and her tongue and bellybutton too. It was their
choice, and their mothers ok to have it done, they knew better than to
ask dadLOL

Not to offend anyone, but here is my opinion...

I think it is wrong to make a permanant choice for your child that
alters their appearance cosmetically. Change their outfit, cut their
hair! Don't do something that will scar them! I really don't understand
how beauty salons or piercing studios can have the right to do this.
Whats next???People getting their children tattoos?

A child is perfect they way they are. Adorning them with jewelry at
such a young age causes the impression that they are not pretty enough
and mom had to alter me.
Wait until they are old enough where they can actually vocalize whether
or not they want this done! Its their choice, not yours.

I am also against circumcision of infant boys. There is absolutely no
reason for the surgical process but to cosmetically alter his natural
apperance. Infact many parents are chosing to also say "no". The
surgery adds risks of infection, and SIDS due to anestesia. Back in the
1980's 90% of boys were circumcised and 10% not. In 2003 it was 50/50!
Alot of people say they do it young because it will hurt more if they
get it done later. Not true! Its pain levels are the same whether you
are 2 or 20.

It is my belief it should be the child's decision and I am an advocate
for children's rights.

My 2 cents!

Both of my friends had their daughters ears done a 2months. I think it
depends on you. My son is six and wants one just like his dad. I will
take him on friday on his 7th birthday.
