It seems even though the American people have spoken there seems to be this question of merit............Obama our President Obama wasnt just chosen by black people...there were white people(the educated),asian people, mexican people, and even better (the ones who put him in office)YOUNG PEOPLE OF EVERY COLOR..................what does it take for people to at least respect him for his commitment and his dedication to this country?

I guess that is to come...I am hopeful, but he will have to earn that respect, as everyone else must.

Why does everyone think people have to earn respect
I was raised that you show respect to people till they do something to not deserve it.

I agree. Respect is something to show towards every person unless they have done something that negates deserving it. I voted for the other guy for various reasons, but I believe Obama has the best intentions for America and I will continue to support the man based on that fact.

This is a milestone... this is history... it will take TIME to change people... talking till your blue in the face will not change a persons way of thinking... TIME... every mistake that is made from here on out will be taken out on him personally... I hope that he is protected by whatever God you all pray to... I personally am one of the voters that hopes he is going to change our country for the better!

Anyone who doesn't respect a man willing to run for president is a hard person. I mean these people have ice in their hearts.

Does anyone here actually understand the job he has taken on? The responsibilities he is assuming? This is a 25/8/366 job. Oh Bush made it look easy taking three or four months a year at his ranch, but that isn't the case. This is one of the worst jobs in the world, it should be on Dirty Jobs on the Discovery network.

I mean think about this, you are put under a microscope to get the job, then you get it, and they up it to an electron microscope. No matter what you do, half the country will be mad at you. Something unexpected will happen, daily. And all the plans you had when you originally ran will be thrown out the window when you get there because the was a whole sh!tfire of stuff left behind by the last guy. There are constant demands on your time and person and you can be openly critizied by every person on the planet. Most of us can't deal with critizism from our friends.

If you can't respect the President of the United States (yeah, even Bush a little), then you have no business participating in the political system. The entire concept of a nation would be greater than that kind of mind could handle.

Respect has to be earned. It is not something handed out very easily. THe President will need to earn it based on his actions...Period.

...........what does it take for people to at least respect him for his commitment and his dedication to this country?

Way back when Bill Clinton first took office I thought the sky was falling. Then he lost the majority in Congress and I relaxed a bit. By his second term I was getting fond of old Bubba. Somewhere in the middle of the Dubya second term I kind of missed Bill and finally thought that a return to a Clinton White House with Hillary might not be so bad.
Then along came Barack Obama, Rev. Wright, Ayers, Acorn, and all. I watched as Obama suddenly started rowing his boat to the middle of the road and was ditching right and left the people he had associated with on the road to the top. Wright was thrown under the bus, he barely knew Ayers, and Acorn was just another local activist group. You know something? The more Obama became just another opportunist politician the more I started to trust him. I don't see any change at all. He's a very gifted speaker who will compromise, hide, and redefine whatever it takes to get where he's determined to go. In other words he'll do just fine as president. He's probably going to have a tough time getting this country back on track. I wish him the best.

Respect is earned when you get your education in an Ivy league school, when you become a governor, a senator...............and lets remember that most of us WE dont even get that done................so he has earned respect for that...................
