I might stay friends with a couple because we have common interests but likely hood is that I will be so involved in my life with my family that it won't be that significant. I would expect the people change in here over a period of time.

it depends on how you define 'friend'. i only talk very regularly with 3 or 4 people online and i expect that i will always have that sort of contact with them. however, as in real life, i'm not the best person to call my friends often just to talk and see what's going on. i have people in my life, who i consider to be friends, that i only see a couple of times a year.
