Here is my saying, I just made it up: Yes, untimately, that is the bottom line. Whether it's knowledge or wisdom or understanding or any other label, if it's not doing anyone any good, then what use is it?
"First you have to be thirsty for knowledge before you actually know something". Ok, another: "Experience and knowledge are 2 different things. You could be very experienced and know so little". another: "Intelligence does not equal Knowledge. You could be the most intelligent person, if you don't know how to use it, it won't help you". another: "You could be the most intelligent and the most informed person, you won't be treated as such in an unintelligent and ignorant world. You will be an outcast". "The more intelligent and knowledgeable you are, the more headaches you get, the more sad you will become in this cruel world. The question is, will you use it to change the world for the better?" |

What Socrates meant here is that the senses can be tricked, so to trust them implicitly is to be a fool. The first step to wisdom is to acknowledge that we are not a source absolute truth. We must work hard to grab a hold of truth, then must keep validating it to make sure we didn't let go . . .

The statement that you "know nothing" makes no sense.
Nothing is nothing, therefore you cannot "know it." 'Nothing' cannot 'exist.' 'Nothing' cannot be 'known.' The statement "I know nothing." is just an expression of awe and humility in that we know so very little in the face of all information, (or truth) that it is staggering to the mind. |
