The Rolling Stones...no other band can or will ever match their lyrics..." I watched with glee while the kings and queens fought for ten decades over the Gods they made "..." I shouted out who killed the Kennedy's well afterall it was you and me "..." I rode a tank held a generals rank...when the blitzkrieg raged and the bodies stank "

Ummmm, I disagree.... Ray Davies.... Lennon/Mccartney....

and what's that guys name again??? Oh yeah Bob Dylan laugh

Jagger/Richards are not even in the same building as Dylan as far as lyrics and general songwriting skills...

I guess it's just a matter of opinion...as for the Beatles...most of their lyrics were nonsense...now...if you think that Jagger/Richards are NOT in the same building as Dylan...that tells me that you don't really know the Stones lyrics...nobody writes like they do...nobody !

Mick and Keef are great songwriters. Not brilliant, just...great. One of my favorite 45's I had was "Waiting on a Friend" on side A and Keith's "Little T&A" on side B. Classic. But overall I still prefer Brian Jones Stones.

Hands down, the best band ever is Apocalyptica. Classically trained guys rocking out with Chellos.
Are you familiar with Glenn Branca?

noway

oh come on!!! happy how can we answer that?

rant
right now I'm listening to Cream (Baker, Bruce, Clapton (alphabetical like in the liner notes)) recorded in 2005 at Royal Albert Hall. But I'm a bit young to fully appreciate Cream.

Who has moved me in some sort of meaningful way?

In no particular order here goes, The Eagles, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Cream, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Electric Light Orchestra, Eric Clapton, Derek and the Dominos, Led Zeppelin (yuck, nevertheless I must include them), Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Cheap Trick, The Cars, Deep Purple.

Let's see, yeah, they're all rockers. but I already see a few I missed.

So to answer the question at hand my two are . . .

Aerosmith and The Eagles.

scared If I only get to pick one then it's The Eagles . . .

. . . or Aerosmith

U2- This isn't my personal choice, although I do love this band and their music. I base this pick on the fact that since they debut in the early 80's, they have survived some of the biggest musical era's...still selling out arena's, selling albums, all the while the same four men who founded it have remained together. Those are rareities, yet U2 has done it.

Bono will go down as one of the best frontmen of all time. These four men together make beautiful music. Like them or not, you cannot deny that musically all four men are talented. They have seen and survived the hair band era, grunge era, hip hop era, pop era....all the while still being who they are and letting their music do the talking.

On a personal level, I still say RUSH is the best band, collectively...of all time. But being objective here, I cannot deny what U2 has accomplished. Yes, the Stones have survived many decades together. They are a great band. I just feel that what U2 accomplished, the different era's of music is the short time span....speaks more volumes to me.

Wow, I cannot believe that all of you got it wrong.

For best band ever, it is Pink Floyd, with Queen at a close second!

Peter Frampton

every teenager in the 70's was issued a copy of "Frampton Comes Alive" on 8-track

and "Do You Feel Like We Do" just isnt right without that loud "kachunk" as it changes tracks right in the middle of the song
