....I don't want to date someone with addictions other than sex

Be careful what you wish for. Google it. Its NOT what you think.
sex addicts are cheaters no matter how much sex they are getting with the person they are with..... a lot of people dont understand what that really means... like angel said google it

of course they r cheaters..they can not stay with one person..they cant get enough..just like booze, drugs, gambling, etc..

Oh crapwhoa ...everyone has some kind of "bad habit" or addiction...all one can do is be lucky enough to find Ms. or Mr. "Perfect" and good luck with that. If by chance you fall in love with "not so perfect" just.....outsmart em! winking
Seriously...momma told me a leopard doesn't change its spotsthink

Life happens and we can decide if we stay on the rough road or easy street?

Addictions don't define the whole person in most cases. I won't give up because of an addiction. The addiction of my daughters' mother provided me with the opportunity to be Mr. Mom and create an unbelievable relationship with them. Wouldn't change it, and BTW, she recovered finally.

just wanted to add a "little humor" to a serious and "upsetting subject". I have been there and done that. I will not and did not let it defeat me. I moved on...and still have a sense of humor.

Congratulations!!!

I would date someone who was active in his recovery and had been clean and sober for sometime.

The person behind the recovery would determine if I would date that person...while the recovery is going to be a part of his life forever, it would be a part of that person.

I have met a few men who were in recovery that were total arse's. It does not take being an addict of any kind to be someone I would not date. There are people who were never addicted to anything that I did not care to be around.

I have many friends who are clean and sober, and I personally find them great to be around. The successful person in recovery has a lot of insight and tends to appreciate life...at least in my experience.

I used to work in the area of addiction and I have learned much from many of the people that I have had the honor of knowing...both men and women.

I drink everyday. Alcoholic is a term for people who can't maintain themselves and thier affairs and blame thier hobbies for thier failures.

I can enjoy a few glasses of wine...a good brandy with a sweet cigar or a few good beers with no remorse. I do it every night.

Yet, I have a good job. A loyal staff. Great friends. A loving family. I am not belligerent or violent. So what?

The women who I have dated and loved like to drink with me. I like to drink with them.

If someone can maintain themselves.... what thier vices are, becomes a non factor in the dating equation.

Addictions come before you. Personalities can change and no one wants to be a punching bag. No good.

well i guess u dont have the disease..there's a difference between an alcoholic and a heavy drinker..most alcoholics however maintain a good life, etc..everyone is different... i know alcoholics that had it all, a good job, money, a good home,etc..and lost it all!! and i've seen alcoholics that never lose a thing, but they hit some kind of a bottom..mostly emotionial..

btw..alcohol is only a symptom of the disease..its all the feelings that come with it..sober..fear, self centerness, loss of self worth/self esteem and or depression..thats y if a alcoholic doesnt get help and trys to do it on therye own..its usually doesnt work, they end up being more unhappy and usually will drink again.
