I would wish for 10 million dollars. That is al I would wish for too.

And the reason behind it, is I woud use it to hel the community. And
dotn get me wrong, almost everything I did would be ptofitable, or a tax
write off so I cold continue to make money. This way I could help the
community and never have to worry about th emoney running out.
I would purchase every rundown house I could and remodel it, in order to
rent to low income residents based on their incomes. I would laso open
up a shelter forhte homeless; one that actually helped them with more
than just a roof over their heads and food. I would assist them with
finding jobs if they were without work, and then assist htem with
finding housing.
I would open up soup kitchens, and all kinds of ther things to help the
poor and odwntrodden, all the while making sure i wa smaking money at
the same time so that I didnt have to worry about it all ending when I
ran out.

Daniel nice wish but shelters do not make money so you would need a
viable business.

First wish that my children would live long and find total happiness.

Second wish would be to find true love.

Third would be that everyone in the world could have one wish for
themselves.

lmao@papa...

as far as shelters being no income? they ARE tax writeable. adn the
people running the shelters wouldbe doing things to bring in support as
well.

The wya i look at a shelter is this:
1. if you are on food stamps and cash aid; your food stamps and half
your cash aid get contributed to the shelter. This goes to help hyou
and others.

2. The shelter provides child care so both parents can go out job
searching.

3. the shelter provides transportation to and from job search facilities
such as job fairs, etc.

4.when you find an apartment, the shelter pays your security deposit
(cause you pitched in with yuor income while staying there) and provides
you with enough groceries to last you until youw food stamps arrive
again.

This way, when you move into an apartment, you are not scrambling to
meet ends, cause you had to put everything towards moving in.
the shelter I stayed at last year, I could dstay indefinetly with my
kids UNTIL I had income. Once I had incoem I had two weeks to find an
apartment and move out. My income was 240 every two weeks. How the
hell is someone gonna find an apartment for that money?

hey sweet? reread what I would do...
I believe that would help people more than most services cause it helps
them get a job along with having a place to stay, and hvoing an
AFFORDABLE place.

Daniel

I did mean to make it sound like I was downing the thought. I am not
always the best at speaking, sorry. There is more ways to get money for
shelters than take food stamps. And someone getting a job to support
them selves is very difficult with the cost of living these days.

My second job is working with a company that helps people learn what it
takes to get their lives together finacilly and to runn their own small
business. The success of what we started about 2 yrs ago was
astonishing. So much so that the state asked the company to build a
program to help life long welfare recipients with a 6th grade education
or less do the same. The program is now in the third cycle of classes
and is very successfull again. The first 2 have had about a 50% success
rate.

I am for shelters but too many of them focus on just the emotions and
not how to make it financially. Nor how to get some extra help to do
something like that.

One of the speakers is a woman that started a business with a micro
business loan of $2,500.00 (because of her finances it took 6 months to
get). In 4 years of starting she has grown to over 30 employees, and a
few million in annual sales. She has nothing more than a high GED that
she earned after she started her business. This is what we teach.

I guess what I am saying is shelters are great and do what they can, but
it is still up to the person to find their own way and some do not want
to do so. It is sometimes to easy to make an excuse and never get out. I
aplaud you for finding a job and making. But think if they were able to
get you some skills that you could have used to help you find a better
job than that, or the skills to help you start a micro biz, it is always
posible to get the money to make training like that available.

Hey Rk, I agree with you about current shelters. They do not do
anything to assist. Where I am from (michigan) we have a work program
that i smandatory for welfare respients.
With my shelter, you would have to apply for welfare, and you would be
required to attend work first or you would not receive shelter. Now, I
agree that some people are jsut lazy and wont go find a job. Those
people show themselves fro who they are, and when it comes out, they go
out into the street.

I will not be playing around if I can open this shelter. As a resident,
you WILL be actively looking for employment no matter what (unless you
have a medical statement to the contrary), and you WILL be required to
show proof that you are seeking.

And as far as being unable to find a self sustaining job in todays
economy? Get a second job! That is what I just did today (dont know
for usre yet, but llokslike I have the job, so....) And I am probably
going to be working all 7 days of hte week with no days off due to
having two kjobs. But you know what? if that is what has to be done,
then that is what I will do.
