Damn...this goes way beyond merely distancing themselves from Bush haha
The Republican National Committee is practically disowning the poor guy. Not even a kiss good-night? haha ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At its meeting next month, the Republican National Committee is set to vote on a resolution formally opposing the bailouts, accusing Bush of helping nationalize the banks and taking "another dangerous step closer toward socialism," the Washington Times reports Tuesday. "We can't be a party of small government, free markets and low taxes while supporting bailouts and nationalizing industries, which lead to big government, socialism and high taxes at the expense of individual liberty and freedoms," Solomon Yue, an Oregon member and co-sponsor of the resolution told the Times. The resolution reads, in part: "WHEREAS, the Bank Bailout Bill effectively nationalized the Nation's banking system, giving the United States non-voting warrants from participating financial institutions, and moving our free market based economy another dangerous step closer toward socialism; and WHEREAS, what was needed, and is still needed, to fix the banking industry is not a bailout, but rather a commitment to fiscal responsibility." Republican leaders in both the House and Senate supported the Wall Street bailout, and GOP presidential candidate John McCain infamously "suspended" his campaign to return to Washington and whip up support for the bill. A Republican-led filibuster blocked the auto industry bailout in the Senate, but Bush decided to use some of the previously approved $700 billion to grant loans to the car companies. During the campaign, accusations that Obama was a closet socialist proliferated on talk radio, conservative blogs and in McCain/Palin campaign speeches. For the record, "The resolution also opposes President-elect Obama's proposed public works program and supports conservative alternatives," another co-sponsor told the Times. http://rawstory.com/news/2008/RNC_mulls_accusing_Bush_of_socialism_1230.html |

I just have to say how amusing it is to see the rabid Bush supporters on this board completely ignore threads like this one.
His own party... Funny... Why aren't they calling names and pointing fingers now? Maybe because the pundits and talking heads they regurgitate haven't written the script for them yet? |

It amazes me how you continue to blame Bush single handidly for everything this side of the moon and yet his position on the bailout is the same as your man Obama's position. Wow. The democrats had the president with them on this issue but you still found a way of portraying Bush in an unfavorable light siting objections from his own party and even going so far as to say republicans disowned him. Once again, your hatred of Bush has clouded objectivity. Since Obama can do no wrong in your eyes, why can't you credit Bush for having the same position as Obama on this issue? If you attack Bush on the bailout like you did, you have also attacked Obama judgement on the bailout too. |

A commitment to fiscal responsibility? Now that's funny, where were they the last 8 years?

Check your head...this post isn't about what people who disagree with Shrub think...
It's about what his own party thinks.... Sorry but you can't put this on the evil liberals! Did you bother to read the thread??? Oh and it isn't the Democratic National Committee either!! It is his own party... Deserting him and preemptively assigning blame in order to distance themselves from his ineptitude at best and like to distance themselves from his criminal actions. Republicans deserting Bush...it's funny really...while the unwashed continue to defend him on forums like these the party is walking him down the plank. Willing for now to distance themselves from him because that's the way the wind blows. This isn't liberal pissing and moaning. This is republican cutting and running. Did you contribute to the republican party in the last year? Grats you...hahahah |

RNC mulls accusing Bush of ’socialism’
Nick Juliano Raw Story Wednesday, Dec 31, 2008 The divisions taking hold among Republicans are becoming more severe as the party prepares to accuse its outgoing president of embracing “socialism.” The slur that conservatives were so fond of lobbing at Barack Obama during the presidential campaign is now being directed toward President Bush and GOP lawmakers who supported federal bailouts of the banking and auto industries. At its meeting next month, the Republican National Committee is set to vote on a resolution formally opposing the bailouts, accusing Bush of helping nationalize the banks and taking “another dangerous step closer toward socialism,” the Washington Times reports Tuesday. “We can’t be a party of small government, free markets and low taxes while supporting bailouts and nationalizing industries, which lead to big government, socialism and high taxes at the expense of individual liberty and freedoms,” Solomon Yue, an Oregon member and co-sponsor of the resolution told the Times. The resolution reads, in part: “WHEREAS, the Bank Bailout Bill effectively nationalized the Nation’s banking system, giving the United States non-voting warrants from participating financial institutions, and moving our free market based economy another dangerous step closer toward socialism; and WHEREAS, what was needed, and is still needed, to fix the banking industry is not a bailout, but rather a commitment to fiscal responsibility.” Republican leaders in both the House and Senate supported the Wall Street bailout, and GOP presidential candidate John McCain infamously “suspended” his campaign to return to Washington and whip up support for the bill. For the record, “The resolution also opposes President-elect Obama’s proposed public works program and supports conservative alternatives,” another co-sponsor told the Times. |

Hmmm... Bush is a Socialist and so is Obama...
Seems like the RNC is proving my point for me, both sides are the same! |

I know I will sound hypocrytical but I think the bailouts had to happen to keep millions from suffering, what ails me is how it was done. It seems the right wing pundits were so eager to bail out the billionair wall st boys and wanted to see the big three go bankrupt putting many millions out of work. It was summed up best by the president of the steel workers union "Congress Bails out Those Who Shower Before Work, but not Those who Shower After Work" For once Bush did the right thing and eventualy after much feet dragging did bail them out sort of. Ya know when I was a younger man a job in an auto factory was a dream job and for many decades they made money while paying their workers a great wage, a wage that allowed the workers to send their kids to collage and they in turn took engineering jobs, became Dr's technicians etc etc. If we break the "cycle" of working families being able to rise to the next level our country will be a far far worse place. Dont envy the men of the UAW they have made many concessions over the years. We all should aspire to a good wage after all it is the american dream.

To further attack Bush is the only reason you really posted this thread. That's my observation. Prove me wrong - post a real good negative article about Obama supporting the bailouts. Madisonman's post that "for once Bush did the right thing" is the appropriate way for Bush bashers to respond. If you support Obama and the democrats, then you have to agree that when the president chooses that view over his party's view one can not find a way to attack Bush. Ask yourself, did I really post this thread for informational content and to support my political beliefs or was it all about my hatred of Bush? |

DO I think Bush is a national embarrassment?
Why yes I do...if you don't like my posts please feel free to not read them but do not attack me in the forums for posting articles supporting my position. I feel no obligation to post anything to meet your standards. We have four long years ahead and I am sure I will find things to post about Obama as well. Unlike some here however I will wait for him to actually be in office and then I will comment on what he has done instead of posting nifty, OMG he's the anti-christ we are all doomed, stuff like some here who hate him do. I posted this not just because it's interesting and a bit entertaining to see his party distancing themselves from him but because it's just as entertaining to see his the reactions of his few remaining supports, such as yourself, react to any criticism of him or his actions. Thanks...you continue to amuse me. |
|
|
|
In this instance His party is more moronic than Bush.
The Republican party needs to be disbanded. They are anti-american and a problem to the recovery of our country. |
