Is it scary? A store by my job is doing it, and I'd like to do on my lunch break. I've never given blood before does it hurt?

I have. It doesn't hurt. They have a list of what kinds of food to eat before you give.

They didn't like me, though. I clot too quickly.

No, it doesn't hurt. Just like when the Dr. takes blood on your physical. And, you may help save a life.

Yea, its for children. I figured if I have enough time considering the place will be right outside work, so why not.

I have given over 50 times. You don't have to do anything special for it. Just do it.

I had to donate my own blood for my surgery and it didn't work. My veins are too small. The hospital staff was wonderful and we made the best of it. My mom donates blood yearly and she encourages everyone she meets to do it. I was disappointed that donation didn't work for me.

Good luck! I hope it goes well for you!

I used to donate plasma. It doesn't hurt either but it takes much longer.

After the initial stick, you don't feel it. I do it whenever I can. I actually tried to give yesterday, but my iron was a little too low.

I donate blood every 8 weeks and have been doing it ever since I was 17.
I also have 2 of my 3 children that donate as well, and when my daughter turns 17 she also will be donating.
When my mother was dying of cancer I held a blood drive and had over 200 people donate in her honor, because she was getting transfusions every day(someone helped her so we wanted to help others)
