That's a tough one. My new favorite quotation is -- When God closes a door he opens another one. But there's hell in the hallway. So hang in there until the other door opens. You could go to the library and check out some books, organize your pictures, work on your family history, learn to crochet or knit. Of course, this is my third day of being iced in. I have all kinds of things I could be doing, but don't want to do any of them!!! But I think I'm gonna have to iron. I absolutely love this one!!!! Also agree with all of the subsequent thoughts on the issue. I think it comes down to is the glass half full, or half empty? |

When my glass gets half full, I pour some more in.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Tell me how do you get your mind off things? Right now I am laid off work, have to live in my daughters basement, and have soooooooooooo much time on my hands. I have cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned some more but there are always those times in the evening when you realize just how quiet it is. That is when you feel so alone, so can anyone suggest anything? You can only watch so much TV, I have worked far too many Sudodu puzzles. Suggestions please. You have to find a hobby for yourself, there are so many things you could do. And there is always voluntary work in organizations that feed the poor and things like that. It takes you out of the house, and you get to meet people. |

Agree strongly with invisable. You got to leave the house. For me, its get out of the house before 10am...kind of sets the pace for the day. Do your sudoku at a coffe house where one cup and a refill will give you chances to meet people.
Check out all the bulletin boards in the area for work or group meetings. Some bookstores have free scrabble nites. Lots of shut in older people need help with chores and they need help and can't get any from the their local charities. Catholic Charities, and Meals on Wheels are 2 organizations that come to mind. Keep the faith, you'll see better times! |
