Rainbow, WOW , 12 yrs May 2 for me.

Hang in there & keep going.

"They can kill us, but can't eat us, WE are to tough."

Me too 12 yrs this past Nov.13th.
I have some rough days but life is to short to be stuck.I believe in my heart what my husband told me "We will meet again"

My husband passed away 8 years ago. I agree about the rough days...but I'm trying. This is the first time I have reached out to anyone. It REALLY is scary venturing out there alone. Are others out there having a really rough time coping with Valentine's Day coming up or am I just being silly?

me it's even harder since my boy's left home

I know what you mean. My youngest just left home and I am having a terrible time with the "empty nest syndrome!!"

Just do what I do buy your self a new sexy nighty and treat yourself to little pleasures on that day. A manicure, a massage, haircut, come home soak in a nice bubble bath with candles and wine. Put on your new gown and put some music on an enjoy your evening. You do not need anyone in your life to make Valentines Day special. Everyday can be special if you make it that way for yourself.flowers

Have enjoyed reading this thread today - Hello to all you new folks! - Here are the words to a song by a favorite of mine - Kathy Troccoli - "Goodbye for Now". Thought it might give voice to some things for a few of us. Its been 10 years since my David died and I first heard this song. The intensity of missing him has dimmed, but missing all that that kind of relationship can bring has not.
**********************
I can't believe you're really gone now
Seems like it's all just a dream
How can it be that the world will go on
When something has died within me?

Leaves will turn, my heart will burn
with colors of you.
Snow will fall, but I'll recall your warmth
Summer wind, breathing in your memory
I'll miss you.

But there will be a time
when I'll see your face
And I'll hear your voice
And there we will laugh again.
And there will come a day
When I'll hold you close
No more tears to cry
'Cause we'll have forever
But I'll say goodbye for now

I can't imagine my life without you
You held a place all your own
Just knowing you were beneath the same sky
Oh what a joy I have known.

On rainy days in many ways you'll water my heart.
On starry nights I'll glimpse the light of your smile
Never far from my heart
You'll stay with me...so I'll wait

Thank you all for the comforting words and song. Music is a BIG part of my life. It can be so comforting when you need a little "HUG" from beyond. Many, MANY times when I seem to need it the most, "our" song will come on the radio and I am positive that it is my husband sending me love from above. It has happened too many times to be a fluke!

Yes, I do treat myself kindly on special days. I even use my good china etc. It does help. As for the sexy nightie.....I don't want to scare my animals so I will pass on that one!!!! laugh bigsmile biggrin  surprisedslaphead rofl scared rofl

That's a tough one. My new favorite quotation is -- When God closes a door he opens another one. But there's hell in the hallway. So hang in there until the other door opens.

You could go to the library and check out some books, organize your pictures, work on your family history, learn to crochet or knit. Of course, this is my third day of being iced in. I have all kinds of things I could be doing, but don't want to do any of them!!! But I think I'm gonna have to iron.

I absolutely love this one!!!! Also agree with all of the subsequent thoughts on the issue. I think it comes down to is the glass half full, or half empty?

I had heard the first part before but, hell in the hallway that is so cool!!
half empty or half full I think it is both is there anything wrong with my thinking?Just curious. smiles

Yeah, those days are hard. People think I am strange when I say New Years is hard...glad I'm not alone!
May is very hard too. My husband's birthday was the 4th, mine on the 8th, and our anniversary on the 22nd! It does get easier as the years fly by.
Thanks for your kind words! ((( flowerforyou )))

you are so right - Mother's day is hard because I don't get along with mine, have lost all the "mother" figures in my life and have never been one. Father's day the same because I lost mine at 20. Labor Day - Both my husband and my dad passed on Labor day weekend 25 years apart. and the beat goes on.
