I don't know, but I was thinking that if you just paid your bills and on time, then maybe you wouldn't have to worry about creditors wanting to garnish your check. But then again, with the way today's economy is heading, it's probably pretty easy to get behind. ohwell

Of course it's easy to get behind. Not everyone has a stable job, and income. Not everyone is so perfect. Bad things happen to good people.

grumble grumble

I get sick of hearing people say, well if they pay their bills on time. You dont know what has happened for these people to fall behind on payments. My friends parents lost everything due to the dad being diagnosed with cancer soon after he was laid off work.

credit is a tool used by banks to force everyone into becoming indebted to them. Hell yes you got to stand up to them. Notice how the banks in general push credit on everyone? Notice how they insist we maintain a balance on our credit cards? Notice all of the advertising?
Worst yet humans in general act a lot like sheep!

The banks just love that Green Wool!

if loan people bother you to much--try--making a small payment of $10 or $20 dollars , all in loose pennies, in a bag. (is what my neighbor says.)

Federal Law Prohibits garnishing SSI or Social Security income, if that's your ONLY source of income...

A Creditor may still get a judgment against you (in some states) and put a lien against such things as real estate property, car, boat....etc., but can't have money taken from your bank account.

There are steps you can take in life that will prevent losing everything you have. Such as, sacrificing how you live and not eating out to save money so you have a reserve of cash to keep you going if something happens. Staying ahead on bills is easier than most people choose to make others believe, its just most people are lazy and don't want to sacrifice anything to secure their future. As far as credit cards? Useless, unless you are using them to pay bills and paying the balance off every single month, and that is solely to increase your credit score, not to actually USE the credit they give you.

SSI and SSDI are a completely different story though, at that point, if you don't have anything saved, chances are you won't be making anything extra so yeah, you shouldn't have debtors calling you.

I`ve known people with little money who pay $1.00 a week. It seems pretty low but when you have very little to work with, at least your trying. When it comes to paying your bills on time, all the time. Where is that perfect world???????

hmmm... pay the rent for roof over head, or pay the electric bill for heat, or pay the car payment for transportation to job...if you have a job that is...oh, and don't forget better get some groceries to survive on also...Some choices that many people are being forced to make...
