I've been reading a lot of profiles lately and I realized certain small things that turn me away from profiles almost immediately. These are mine, list yours.
Massive amounts of misspelled words. Seriously? Spell-check does wonders to make you not look like a complete moron. Stupid chicks not only turn me off, they sometimes even piss me off. I'm not sure why it pisses me off, it just does. The liberal use of slang, such as.. "ne ways" or anything of that sort. Anybody else got pet peeves they care to share? -- Oh and I know my grammar probably sucks, but luckily grammar isn't one of mine, otherwise I would stay pissed at myself. |

people that put the word "bored" in their screen names... Haha, yeh.. I want to change it. I never really intended to meet anybody on this site, but I was proven wrong so it's too late now. |

Not really. I believe that a persons profile shows their own individuality. Thus, giving me a glimpse of what they are like and I get to decide if I am interested or not.
As a writer, the errors don't even bother me. I guess I wouldn't want anyone telling me that my personal style is "not good enough" or that the way I talk/type/etc. "pisses them off" because that is like saying, "I know you are you but it's not good enough. Conform NOW!" |

Pages and pages of information. |

Conform NOW!" It's not the style of writing... I'm talking about profiles that you can read and pretty much know one hundred percent that they really don't know how to spell even the most simple words correctly. It shows that however nice they might be, you probably won't be having any type of intelligent conversation with them any time soon. |

Mine is virtually empty because I'm not looking for anything. It says what it needs to say in a concise, succinct manner.

"I don't know what to write here."
"I'll fill this out later." "My friend told me about this site and I'm not going to write anything here until I see if it's worth it." "Anything you want to know, you'll have to ask." "I'm laid back and easy going." "I love my friends and family." "I'm different from anyone else you've ever met." (Then their profile is a word-for-word identical copy of the last 285,000 I've read.) "I'm a single mother of two kids and they are my world." "No game players." "I like going out or staying in." "I'm a fun person who likes to have fun." (A COMPLETE profile from another site.) "I'm me." (Another complete profile -- how very informative!) Profile pictures with more than one person and they never bother to tell you which one the profile belongs to. Misspelled words are bad, yeah. Inability to use apostrophes correctly. "Tired of dating loosers." "Good sence of humor." etc. |

long profiles... |

no pic long profiles... I hate the super long profiles also. You can tell a person about yourself without telling your entire life story. I personally link them to my myspace which pretty much shows what kind of person I am on there without having to bore them with a research paper on my life. If they are interested then maybe they will check it out, if not then so be it. |

So then what is the point in getting upset if you know they are not on the same intellectual level and know that you won't be meeting them? Seems like a waste of perfectly good time/energy, doesn't it? |

moon lit walks in the park... and hiking. You get on a dating site and suddenly EVERYONE hikes and goes on moonlit walks in the park or by the river. Come on now. After months of dating he hardly hikes his azz to the fridge to get his own beer.
