If i thought they needed medical attention i'd try to suggest they get help and if I didn't seem to at least in some ways be able to make them happy[hint]then probaly things wouldn't last

Depending on how strong I am and how much dedication I am willing to make, I'd seek help for my partner. There's so much out there that deal with people and depression...I'm willing to go the extra mile to make my partner happy and live life.

Have them look into getting help. Something like this causes serious strain on a relationship and for some, it is too much for them to handle.

I'd try to help them. However, I wouldn't try to break up with them in the meanwhile, as that's liable to put the affected person over the edge. Not only that, but it's just rather callous as well.

I have two sister that have depression and my dad has manic depression, so as long as it wasn't too severe and they were being properly treated, I could handle it.

try to talk to them and see why and whats causing it and see if its something you can help with but mainly be patient with them cause if you don't it could make problems worse

Been there done that. It is a up and down ride. The problem is my ex would never get help. The only yhing that kept her ok is the stable life we had, now that she is gone and living the life she is, it has gotton alot worse. I could love someone like that the next time around, If they would get help.

You are only responsible for your own happiness and have no control over what someone else thinks or does. If this person is depressed they need help, but only they can make that choice. Take care of yourself, love with compassion, but don't get caught up in their misery...then you have two people depressed.

if you love them then you do the best you can
educate yourself about the illness and learn how
best to cope.
