 Do you think LOVE fails so often because we want the fairy tale dream?

I've got a cure for that cause of failure.

It's called transformational artwork.
Whatever art you've got a knack for doing (writing, painting, photography, etc.) use that talent to show your loved one as a story. That is the best way that I know to really learn scads of intimate detail about the love of your life...and to rediscover them anew. Then you begin to really see yourself in their life, more as they see and know you.
It's spooky.
Takes guts and other good things to do.
But it is definitely worth the care.

And it's okay if you blur the harsh lines of reality, a bit romantically.

Each person could write what they believe their fairy tale is, and then edit/enhance it to suit what is real, feasible, and suits their character.

Then...do it together, with each potential/likey mate. That step could save a lot of misunderstanding and pain, and begin working together.

Well, I think that most get together for the wrong reasons to begin with. It may be looks, financial reasons, lots of different reasons. Look around this site... you've got some really nice people.. Big hearts, lots of personality and seem to be decent. I'm gonna get creamed for this..but maybe some not real attractive. (I'm not excluding me so don't yell at me) People don't take the time to get to know them/ us. THey are looking for the "eye candy". Doesn't matter if you are man or woman.. both do it. If more people took into consideration what's on the inside just as much as the outside..I think more would work.. Just my opinion.. I may be wrong. :)

After reading all the ideas for this topic this is the one I have to address. BRAVO~ Some of the most beautiful souls around are encased in thorny packaging just like a rose. When we all start to think more about what would make us happy in a long term relationship, affection, humor, shared interests, shared goals etc.... and less on the instant gratification of eye candy. The more and more relationships we are going to see turn into "happily ever after"

Yep. Too many people, after having been hurt a few times, have decided that they will settle for nothing less than that one " perfect person " with which to live out the fairy tale.

The problem is, there really isn't that one " perfect person ". There are lots of people who will get very, very close to being that one person. But there is no one person that is absolutely perfect.

People are sitting around waiting for the unattainable. Meanwhile, they sit there, alone. not realizing that they could be looking beyond the one person that could make them happy, regardless of that person's level of perfection.

Most people move to quickly into a relationship with not knowing each other very well, then there are others who don't work at their relationship.

The fairytale princess crap is beyond old though. If you have "Knight in shining armor" anywhere in your profile....I pass you like a second thought. Shows me that you are unrealistic, unreasonable, and dillusional. Its not even cute or funny.

I've seen your knight in shining armor!!! He's buried in a grave in wales! He's been dead 700 years. And I think you two would be perfect together!
